This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chevrolet dealer.
Service air bag light has been coming on intermittently for past year - 4 attempts to have fixed at the dealer have filed. Have notified the manufacturer, who refers me back to the dealer.
Bottom line - the dealer has no idea how to fix the problem - and I don't know the severity of the problem. It could be a simple wire short, or it could be that my airbags won't work properly if they are needed.

This is a major safety problem. I now have 49,000 miles on this car and it's been to the dealership 8 times to be fixed. I have been told that the cause has been from the front floor mats, young kids putting feet under seat ( I'm 80 years old, don't have any small kids) packages and items under seats NO!!!! Very seldom have anyone in rear seats, and don't haul stuff.... I have been told that the connectors have corroded, come loose, a pinched wire etc., any excuse to cover up the real problem. When I can reach under the seat and juggle the wires THE light goes off. THE PROBLEM....This is an inherent problem with the wiring harness and connectors. This car is the LTZ model with automatic adjusting seats for each different driver (2). Seat moves up or back upon exit and entrance automatically, thus flexing the wiring harness eventually breaking the wires, or pulling connectors loose. I have showed this problem to the service manager, but no one thinks this is the problem. IT IS!!!!!! I have been a GM man since I first started driving 65 years ago. I don't like Fords, definitely not Chrysler, and can't stand foreign cars. Other than this safety issue, it has been a great car, good gas mileage and rides very comfortable. GM doesn't realize they're playing Russian roulette.(or maybe they do!) Big law suit coming.
