Traverse LT 3.2L V6

While the vehicle was still covered under an extended warranty, the service airbag light came on. It would go out when the seat was moved and come back on intermittently. It was brought into the same dealer where the vehicle was purchased from when it was new and the tech diagnosed the issue as a faulty connector under the driver seat. He stated that Chevy was aware of the issue and that there was not enough cases to issue a recall to cover the parts and repair. Unfortunately, this repair was not covered under the extended warranty either. Had the module been bad, no problem, but since it was just the connector we were sh*t out of luck.

The tech removed the connector and spliced the wires together with crimp connectors. The repair lasted about a year before they had to redo a few of the splices. Then the passenger side had the same issue so that was repaired in the same manor. Now, we are back onto the driver side again. Nearly 3 years into this and it continues to be an issue. It seems that with the seat being moved for different drivers often, the wires become brittle and break at the weakest point, the splice junction or connector. If you do not move your seat often you will most likely never experience this issue. However, if you are like myself and my wife with a considerable height difference you most likely will see this, especially if you are moving the seat a few times a week. This is a safety concern and needs to be addressed by the manufacturer.
