The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Trax. While driving 20 mph and attempting to make a left turn, the steering wheel seized without warning. As a result, the driver struck a curb. When the contact turned off and restarted the engine, the vehicle drove normally. The vehicle was taken to ryan Chevrolet (located at 1800 South broadway, minot, nd 58701, (701) 852-3571) where it was diagnosed that the steering column failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15V146000 (steering). The manufacturer provided case number: 346514S38. The approximate failure mileage was 18,101.
