On 10/25/23 I went to get in my car and thought something was on the hood above the headlight. Closer inspection showed there was nothing on the hood but that a portion of the blue metallic paint had bubbled up and was peeling off! I have owned many cars in the last 60 years and have never had this problem with any of them. The Bob Howard Chevrolet dealership said this was unusual and it would be approximately $1200.00 to fix it. I live on a fixed income and, frankly do not have that much money. Since I have done nothing to cause this problem, I feel Chevrolet/Bob Howard Chevrolet in Edmond, Oklahoma where I purchase this car in 2020 should be liable to get my car repainted at no cost to me. I have no doubt the paint will continue to peel and then my car will begin to rust. Help!!!

On top of all the other things that have gone wrong (catalytic converter was replaced(no, it wasn't stolen), engine control module was replaced, turbocharger, blower motor and resistor), need I say more!
The paint peeling is the same spot that another had a picture of. I was told by the dealership manager corrosion is covered but not paint. But if the paint is gone won't corrosion follow?
I hate the idea of dealing with buying another vehicle (salespeople and car payments) but so far the most unusual problems.

Cannot believe the Chevy trax blue peeling paint is not included in the class action lawsuits. I contacted GM and they said it was due to the weather, absolutely bull! Every trax I see is peeling in the same places, they need to be held accountable and fix this, I cannot afford $1000 to fix their defect!

Last week, the paint on my rear hatch was perfectly normal. Today I approached the vehicle and noticed a SIGNIFICANT amount of paint had peeled off (it had just been sitting in my garage). I googled the problem, and found several forums photographing the SAME type of peeling/flaking incident on blue Chevy Trax model years 2015/2016. Evidently there is already a class action suit against GM for other makes/models, that does not yet include the Chevy Trax. However, if enough reports are made to the law firm handling the suit, they will be able to add it to the suit.
If you have this paint peeling issue on your Chevrolet Trax, report it to the Maher Firm 407-839-0866 so that they can track it and add it to their database.
I will still be calling the dealership tomorrow to see if they’ll do anything about it, but I’m doubtful anything will come of it.
Update from Jul 10, 2023: Update: dealership said it was a known issue and processed it through GM warranty. I paid $70 for it to be repainted (total cost was over $1k). Overall happy with the outcome, but waiting for more peeling to happen. If this is something you’re dealing with definitely try your dealership

A second larger spot peeled off of my Trax hood. The other spots continue to grow and peel more. Estimated $1,100 to fix from dealer after making an official GM report. GM needs to buy these back or repaint them all for free. I love my Trax but it looks horrible with it's good looking paint shot up.

Paint peeling on hood in multiple places. This was the beginning of it all and I initially blamed the sprayer at the car wash. I found out after about everyone else's Chevys. I'm hoping they add Trax owners to the class action because my cars resale value is shot because of their bad paint job. I would have never bought the car if it was going to peel. I filed with GM and they had me take it to my dealer. They estimated me $1,100 to repaint my hood. I'm waiting for the rest of it to peel off (doors, trunk, ect.) before having it painted. My beautiful blue Trax now looks like it has open sores. How can we get Trax added to the class action?

My paint is peeling off under the back window. I just found out that there is a class action law suit regarding this issue on other Chevy autos. I want to sell this car but can't until it is fixed. I love the car itself. However I don't need 2 vehicles any more.

My Trax started peeling at the rear window last year, I had called 2 dealers to see if it was covered or if any recalls but stated none. Then this January 2024 my hood started peeling as well & bubbling in one spot which has since started peeling as well. Then last week April 2024 was at Target shopping area & saw the exact make/model & color Trax in lot with the exact same peeling happening at back window. Would like to report this for a recall in the color paint for the Trax.
