Our 2016 Trax has been having a strong smell under hood (we thought an electrical hot smell). We brought the vehicle in to Stivers Chevrolet on 11/19/2019 and they couldn't find anything. We brought it back on 11/20/2019 for the same problem. They said that there would be a $165.00 diagnostic fee. One of the Service Writers said it smelled like coolant. We called on 11/20 and 11/21/2019 and they at first didn't find any problem.
On 11/22/2019 they called saying the oil and coolant lines to the turbo had collapsed and failed. The cost to repair that would be $1,210.00! The car is roughly 700 miles out of warranty. It is a leased car that is being turned in 2/1/2020. The dealer said that if the turbo had failed the total repair would be covered under warranty. Has anyone else had a similar issue? We cannot see paying the $1,210.00 for the oil and coolant lines repair when the car is so slightly out of the 36,000 mile warranty. That is a very large expense for it not to be covered at this point.
