Purchased car at Pete Moore in Pensacola Fl. Took it in 2 times because the brakes squeal so badly. We got the Florida excuse they are metallic brakes they ALL squeal.. Took it to Fort Walton Preston Hood dealership they checked it out they can't do anything because it is metallic brakes they all do that especially in Florida due to the humidity. They gave us the GM Customer Service number.
July 13, 2018 we moved to Missouri no rain no humidity brakes have squealed all day long on the 900 plus miles to Missouri and now settled took it to Cable Dahmer in Independence for oil change. The same thing per the service writer. "I guarantee every time I start a car on the lot in the morning the brakes are going to squeal." I ask all day long? Reply, " Well no they shouldn't do it all day long." I say will these do. Nothing for reply.
I said I am calling GM Customer service this was on July 20th. Finally had it so on Aug. 27 Monday I call to report the issue-I am standing outside with my husband inside so they can hear how bad these things sound. Well you just get someone that takes the info and by the way they don't do a very good job of that because I got an email saying they tried to call and could not reach me when I called them the number was not correct.
Also this Senior Advisor did not even know we had taken it in 4 times for the issue. I finally talk to the Senior Advisor GM for my case-# 8-4562716032 his name is Christian. "I have contacted Cable Dahmer and no complain has been issued and we need them to look at it within 30 days of your complain to us-Service Manager Lauren he says."
I tell him that we had it there on the July 20th and it is Aug 29 when you get back to me. "Well that is over 30 days we need it within 30 days." So my husband is taking it to Lauren at Cable Dahmer today. Better it be him than me. He has already dealt with Christian at Pete Moore about this and they had words. So we will see what happens from here.
I might add we had a 2015 Trax that did not have these issues. I was also told by a service writer that GM uses metallic brakes because they are cheaper than ceramic and that is why they squeal because they are metallic brakes. I don't know which is better, but these are crap that is for sure.
