Since I purchased this vehicle the ABS, Traction control and Stability lights have been on and off. When a wheel bearing goes all these lights come on I have had 4 wheel bearing replaced in this vehicle in under 5 years.

The service stability light comes on often, but gives no codes when diagnosed. The really scary part is when the dash flashes "stability control active" and the front brakes apply or try and lock up while I'm driving down the road. Doesn't matter what speed or where I'm driving. It's very random. Very scary with a family of five in the van. So far this has not occurred on a sharp corner or I would probably be reporting an accident. If anyone has any advice please speak up. We avoid driving this vehicle for this reason alone but it is our only family vehicle.

I have not really had any other problems with this vehicle yet, but reading some of the customer's complaints I am concerned about other things going wrong. The Traction Control and Stability System light is constantly on and right now I have no funds to pay someone $100 to diagnose it.
The other problem is the rear door will not stay up anymore. The brake pads don't seem to last very long. Even when I change the pads they seem to squeak. Also I was told by a mechanic that my power steering box was leaking and of course they wanted $700 before I left his shop. He also told me my power steering will be going out soon...this was in May 2013 and I am still driving my car.
I just want to know if the problem with the stability system is severe or is there a sensor that might be malfunctioning. I have read a lot of customer complaints with this problem in this vehicle. Why has there not been a recall on this?

Getting on the interstate, the 2008 Chevy Uplander suddenly applies brakes on it's own. The stability system light did come on. Needless to say this was terrifying. So, as we try again several times to get off the incoming ramp on the interstate, the same thing happens. We ended up having to drive 25 mph all the way home to avoid the car slamming on brakes. Now the van is parked in the yard. Anyone find a recall or fix for this?
