The drivers side sliding door came off the hinge at the back. The door will not close properly now, and can not be used. The brake light burns out everytime it is replaced and looks like it melts the base of the bulb and the socket looks like it has been melted also. The middle section, drivers side seat belt will not release.

My 5-year-old daughter was opening the driver-side sliding door (not-automatic), when it slid out of the track (the one in the rear panel, not the bottom), sheared off the roller-bearing (?) part that is supposed to be in the track, and the rear part of the door dropped to the ground, nearly landing on her. This is a small (37lb) child - and it is unbelievable that she could have caused this occurrence. We haven't yet repaired the part, and the door doesn't close correctly at all. We are going to be doing the repair within the next week, but this seems like it should be a recall-worthy event.

Passenger side door has fallen off track twice. I has it fixed both events and it cost me $125. Now I hear that other people have been experiencing this problem. GM needs to approve a re-call to address the safety issues surrounding the sliding doors on the Venture, Silhouette, and Montana mini-vans.

Driver and passenger windows stick. The glass does not stay in alignment and cause the window to either stick in the down position or the up position. I have had it repaired several times and the problem persists. Ive been told the door shape causes this problem.

My wife, debora was a passenger in the back seat of a Chevrolet Venture minivan. As she opened the sliding door with the handle her arm became pinned against the side of the seat and edge of the door jam. The powered door continued to open until her wrist snapped. I have looked at how this could happened and saw this obvious automotive design flaw. My wife is currently awaiting surgery, which will include titanium plate & screws. Who knows the eventual outcome ? my complaint and questions are these.. in your recall search I find your assigned recall # 04V-597 and GM's recall #04110. My wifes wrist was broken on April 16th because of the problem as stated in that recall. Why hasn't the vehicle owner (original owner) been notified of this injury causing problem? I've spoken to Chevy dealership owners, who say they have no knowledge yet of this recall. GM has a database of all original owners as do dealerships. Is it too difficult or too expensive to bulk mail your customers. Sorry for the inconvenience, de-activate the door till we get you a new handle. Ask the owners to caution passengers about this problem. Well, gms problem became my problem. Farmers insurance won't pay for the injury because their client (car owner) was not negligent. Thanks for listening. Steve depoyster.

I was the only owner of a 2000 chevorlet Venture until two months ago when the door (sliding) fell off for the fourth time. Because GM refused to do anything about it beyond repair it for the fourt time for free, I traded in the vehicle. I was not at all amused that my daughter fell out the door and could have been seriously injured. Thank god she wasn't. the van had been fixed three times previously from the door falling off. Chevorlet could only verify one time that it was repaired because the dealers did not enter the repair into their computers. I had all my receipts saying what was done to the vehicle in hand written notices. However, chevorlet did not believe me and chose to ignor the problem. I am very sorry that someone else's child might get hurt because chevorlet ignored the problem.

The driver's side manual sliding door completely fell off my Chevy Venture. The dealer repaired the car, but I was charged $509 for " consequential damage not covered by my warranty." There wouldn't have been any damage if the door hadn't fallen off!! Chevy customer service told me that it is not their responsibility and they are not willing to help me. I went as far as I could with "customer service" (more than 6 calls) but I was told they are unwilling to help. I am shock by the lack of concern Chevy showed my family. I believe it is their responsibility to fix the car... a door should never just fall off the vehicle. I have 3 young children, and feel lucky that no one was seriously hurt.

One year ago the vehicle was recalled ( NHTSA campaign 01V067000) for the power sliding door. The problem has returned and now when the sliding door is closed it fails to latch and lock properly. Both the dealer and manufacturer were contacted. The door would open without notice. On one occasion, one of the consumers children almost fell out of the vehicle. The consumer requested assistance for this matter.

The passenger side power sliding door on my 2000 Chevy Venture does not close properly. This has been a problem since I bought the van new. I have taken it to Chevy dealers on different occasions, but was told there was no problem. At one time last year, the door opened while driving down the road. My 4 year old daughter was in the seat by the door and thankfully did not fall out. We took it immediately to the dealer, but they again said nothing was wrong. The problem is not predictable, which makes it hard to show the dealer, but the door will make a groaning sound and the alarm will sound when it does. The rear part of the door appears to try to pull in too far, causing the sound. The door will then have to be opened and shut 3-4 times to get it to properly close. I stopped taking it to the dealer after the warranty expired because I didn't want to be charged to hear them say nothing is wrong. There is obviously a problem. I took it in for the recall, but they again said nothing was wrong. I have contacted Chevrolet, but they will not do anything since it is out of warranty. The van has 48,000 miles and the door has been a problem since day one. Maybe if enough people notify your organization, something will be done. Thank you for your assistance with this matter. The incident date listed below is the approximate time I purchased the van, since this is an ongoing problem.
