This time when the car shut off I was slowing down at a light after getting off the turnpike. I'm worried if it would have shut off a minute sooner as I was going through the EZPass toll booth I would have been rear ended. Called the dealer and they said since the engine light isn't on, chances are there won't be a code to let them know what happened. This is getting ridiculous. Still taking it in so there is a record of it happening again. Also going to call Chrysler today.
Update from Feb 17, 2012: Dealer is not able to tell me why the car stalled and there is no code recorded. I have filed a complaint with Chrysler and also with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). If you are having this problem, please let them know. Chrysler's number is 800-247-9753, NHTSA website to file a complaint is safercar.org

I have a brand new car, 2 months in the trouble started, Just driving down the road the engine just shuts off for no reason, not only has this happen 1 time how about 4 times and one time on a rail road track, thank God a train wasn't coming.. took it to the dealership on Tuesday of this week ,which was yesterday, they called me and told me there was nothing they could do, So i called Chrysler OH how nice they were until i told them i didn't want the car to scared to drive it any more. We this is horrible for any one to have to go thru with a new car.. So i was called the the very next day and told me to come and get my car. What a joke, that was, and i even talked to to the owner and he was going to make every thing right, well i guess between Chrysler and the dealership picking my car up was the right thing !!! This is what they put on my paper work, cust, states veh stalled while driving. checked for codes and road tested couldn't get vehicle to stall, ( and i might add they grove it a total of 4 miles ) opened star case # ----- star has no open cases . could not duplicate problem, srv. rep. said returned vehicle to customer , this is so sad some one could get hurt or even killed with this car...

I bought this car with 14 miles on it because I NEEDED a SAFE RELIABLE car. I got neither, It has died 5 times while driving, once in front of an 18 wheeler, I barley got it off the road! The dealer has had it as much as I have and said they cant fix it because they don't know why its happening! Chrysler wont do any thing for us and said they have 2 years for us to keep putting it in the shop before they will call it a lemon, in the mean time If I die driving it I guess Chrysler WINS and if I trade it in and some one else dies when it stalls in traffic I have to live with it and Chrysler still WINS! I WILL NEVER TRUST THOSE CROOKS AGAIN AND I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE THEIR DANGEROUS VEHICLE, I ASKED THE THEY SIMPLY REPLACE THE CAR AND THEY SAID THEY DON'T HAVE TO!!! REALLY HUMAN LIFE MEANS NOTHING, YA THATS THE CAR FOR AMERICA!...NOW LETS GIVE THEM A BAIL OUT...

My 2011 200 had the engine die today. Unfortunately, my 20 yr old son was driving it at the time and was coming down a hill to a 90 degree turn when the car died and the brakes failed. He was unable to turn the wheel or stop. Thankfully, there was a tree there to stop the car or he would have been over a 25 drop into a bouldered ravine. My car is totaled, but thankfully my son is physically uninjured. Chrysler needs to look into this problem before someone is killed. Believe me, I will be contacting them tomorrow.
Update from Jan 29, 2012: Since my post - The insurance company totalled my car - Chysler did their investigation and found "Nothing" wrong my vehicle. There was no indication in the computer that the engine had died. After insisting that the engine died, I was basically told that Chysler is very dedicated to safety, but there was nothing wrong with my car. When I asked about other complaints of engine failures, I was told not to worry about it, my insurance paid me, end of conversation. No - it is not the end.....
Update from Oct 20, 2012: Update - October 21, 2012 - I just received a recall notice regarding the engine problem! Thank you CarComplaints.com!!!! I think with your press coverage of the problems helped all Chrysler owners who still have their cars! Very curious as to why this hasn't been blasted all over the news like other car recalls are.

I have a BRAND NEW 2011 Chrysler 200 Touring. Never had any complaints about the car until now... not sure what happened but I was driving down a parking ramp and it just died out on me. Wouldn't let me do anything but stop on the brakes put it in park and restart it. It only happened once and I thought it ODD but I went on with my day. Now I've been reading about many other people with the same vehicle doing the same thing. It's alarming to say the least, what if I would have been on the highway and had that happened?!?

This vehicle was purchased on October 18, 2011 and we have driven it all about 3 days total because its been in shop for repairs the entire time. The engine shuts off in the middle of the road. It sounds like its going to blow up at any moment. We have returned it to the dealership 4 times for repairs and the problem still exits. Today I still do not have my brand new vehicle, it remains in the service department of the dealership we purchased it from.

Fortunately I was barely moving - sitting in traffic on an interstate exit ramp. When I touched the gas pedal nothing happened & the steering locked. When I turned the key to off the car made a grinding noise - scary! Fortunately it started right up again, but not before many honks from angry drivers in traffic behind me. When I called the dealership they told me that without a light on or a repeat occurrence, they wouldn't be able to do anything. But I'm paranoid driving now! Any time it seems to idle unevenly I think it's going to die. Not a good feeling in a brand new car!
Update from Oct 28, 2011: I called a different Chrysler dealership to get a second opinion. They had me bring it in to look at it right away. They were honest and told me chances were they wouldn't find anything. However, they did do a software update. The older version of software in the car was known to cause issues with the powertrain, which they said could result in a stall. They obviously couldn't guarantee that the software update would fix it, but they said hopefully that's what will do it. At least I got the peace of mind of having it looked at!

I was driving my car, going 35 mph, and the car suddenly died. I lost all driving access and the only thing I could do was brake. It was the worst thing that could happen to a car. I called the dealership and they couldn't get it in for 4 days. I don't feel safe driving the car. They called me back and said they couldn't find the problem. So I called Chrysler and they did sh*t. They said they would have a case-manager look into it and that was on Friday morning. They said I would receive a call later that day and it is now Saturday, so I called Chrysler back and they said nothing can be done until Monday. I am done with Chrysler. I have owned 2 and my parents have owned 2 as well. It's a brandddddd newwwwww carrrrr. I don't feel safe driving it because I am moving 3 hrs away from my hometown for work and I will be driving 60 miles round trip every day. I don't need to have the car shut off while being on the interstate going 65 mph and die. THANKS FOR NOT HELPING ME CHRYSLER. IF ANYONE FROM CHRYSLER SEES THIS AND WANTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM THEN I WILL TAKE THIS OFF, BUT UNTIL THEN NOBODY BUY A CHRYSLER 200 AT ALL.

I bought a new 200 Sept 9 2011. After 1 week, I went to the dealer service shop because the low tire pressure monitor light remained illuminated. They reset that tire pressure monitor system. As I was driving thru the lot, about to leave the dealership, THE ENGINE DIED. So I restarted the car, but it did not run smoothly or sound good at all. It sounded, ran and felt like the fuel mixture and pressure was faulty. CHECK ENGINE light was now on. I turned around and returned to service dept. and told them what had just happened. They checked into it and after 20-30 minutes said the MAP sensor need further evaluation and I had to leave the car there. They said MAP is manifold absolute pressure. They called me later and said the MAP sensor was bad and needed to be replaced the next morning. Notes on the work order say something about a "P0108" maybe it's PO108 (zero or an O??) problem. The next morning they said nothing was wrong and that something has reset was working fine. Twice since then engine has idled very poorly, it came close but the engine didn't die. Fortunately, these two times I was starting the car from a dead stop. It was cold one, maybe 25*F, the other time it was in the high 30s. But this shouldn't be happening to any car produced these days.
