About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Car will just randomly shut off while the car is cruising, accelerating, or decelerating. There are no warning lights, sounds, or visual cues to indicate any sort of problem. In addition to the engine, the power steering and brake assist will also shut down. After the stall: It doesn't trigger any error codes for an obd-II reader, meaning technicians wont be able to diagnose the problem. Will do this at all speeds, even on the high way, or places that may not have a place to pull off. This is extremely unsafe and extremely dangerous.

The car was bought with a 7 year 100,000 mile certified warranty, with 29,000 miles. At about 31,000 miles while city street driving the brakes started grinding and squeaking when coming to a stop, took to dealer, they said every thing was fine. Another 200 miles same problem, returned to dealer they changed the brake pads. 200-300 more miles returned to dealer with the same problem they said they changed the rotors. Driving one day applied brakes and the ABS system failed and the brakes did a rapid thumping sound and I had no brakes. I was able to maneuver and not hit anyone, once again they checked the rotors and the brakes, said ok. My front rims are black from brake dust. At night when I turn the heating system on I can see a spark behind the nob. What is up with that?. I can't put a specific date on the events because it happens when ever I drive. The car pulls to the right on freeway when driving, and sounds like the bottom is falling out when driving city streets

"takata recall" the brake doesn't work well. Sometimes its accelerate by its self. The speed when your driving in the freeway goes up and goes down by it self. You feel like there something shifting in the bottom of the car when you stop. I even crash one time when im driving on the streets because it accelerated when I press the brake. It wont stop at all. Driving on a well cleared interstate in light snow conditions, the rear of the vehicle sways back and forth like there is no traction while the front end has traction and tries to maintain traction. Once stabilized and only driving 20-25mph when going over a bridge or under and overpass, the little bit of moisture in those areas makes the rear of the car slide side to side. Driving over expansion joints in the highway makes the rear of the vehicle jump to the right. Driving is stabilized on completely dry roads or in town snowpacked but treated roads. The vehicle is unsafe to drive on interstates in even the mildest of any type of adverse weather. The car cannot be driven over 25 mph without out the rear end swaying back and forth. During this situation all other vehicles were driving at or near posted highway speeds without problem.
