While driving on the highway at about 65mph, the car shut off as we coasted to a stop. Car was inoperable. We tried restarting the car, but was unsuccessful. All electrical features, including the gear shift knob were inoperable. We gave it time and attempted to restart vehicle a number of times. We finally succeeded half an hour later. All appeared to be well. Not sure if this has been a common issue, but it is a concern of ours. There has been a number of recalls on their vehicles and it behooves me that there is no law that makes these car manufacturers responsible for buying back their vehicles. My husband and I bought a new vehicle, believing it would be the safer thing to do. I have a teenager, an infant and another baby on the way. It is so scary to have babies in a vehicle you no longer feel safe in, knowing their frailties if an accident were to occur.

My finance and I went on trip to Tennessee. On the expressway I was driving around 70 miles per hour. The car started to slow down on it own in the middle of traffic. It dropped from 70 to 60 and then to 45 without me doing anything. It started shifting gears automatically on it owns. Then I pushed the gas and it went back up to 70. Once we arrived to Tennessee we had to go up mountains and the car started to stall again in the mountains. This was very scary. As I was going into the mountains the car almost stopped while driving. The car kept shifting gears even when I am barely pressing the gas. I had to pull over and shut the car off and start it again. The car started stalling the first day of purchasing it but I thought it was suppose to this until it did it on the express way. I have a brand new car that I am afraid to drive it on long distance trips because of this issue. Talk about disappointing.

The car lunged when it upshifted into 2nd and 5th gear. It also lunged when downshifting, almost causing me to Ram into the back of another car. Both are worse when the car is cold. I took it into a dealer. They told me they updated the software. The transmission was maybe a little different, but not much. I am so tired of my neck bouncing around while upshifting and afraid of an accident while downshifting. I took the car into a different dealer last month and he said all the software was up to date and there was nothing he could do. He said I should have to deal with Chrysler.

I am leasing the Chrysler 200C.I leased it in October 2014, within the first month it was back with check engine light and check transmission light. Next one headlight and back light would stay on when car was off and then sometimes both headlights would stay on when car was off.brought car back to service due to this and check engine light on again was told there was a recall on my car it was the RO8 parkrod.I was then told false alarm there is no recall I was given back car.I got in touch with Chrysler customer care to find out about this and I was told to drive the car see if check engine light came back on.while driving on an interstate the car began to bounce, steering wheel tightened, speed dropped to zero, RPM went up, and nothing happened when I tried to accelerate. I was able to pull over to shoulder.I am still trying to get car fixed.

On Sunday, April 12th at 5:30am, I was driving southbound on I-94 at 65mph when all of a sudden I lost all power to my transmission. My gas pedal was useless & I had to coast off the expressway to the shoulder (I was in the far left lane & the shoulder there is too narrow). If this had been at a different time, I would have no doubt been killed (as well as others I'm sure), for I wouldn't have had the room or momentum to coast onto the shoulder & would have been struck from behind. Chrysler wants the car fixed & not even the dealer knows exactly what is wrong, citing it as a 'shotgun fix'. and, I'm on an expressway (or two or three) everyday. This car is a danger & it will no doubt do this again.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While parked, the vehicle rolled away without warning. The contact was able to enter the vehicle and depress the emergency brake. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15V090000 (power train) but the part was not available. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,800.

An unexpected surge from the engine and drivetrain occurs occasionally with no accelerator pedal application - most often while slowing down around corners. The first time this happened was within a day of buying the car. It startled me and have since approach corners much more cautiously. The unexpected surge has happened approximately six times since late-January to varying degrees of power. I finally have time to take it in tomorrow, 8 April 2015.

While in cruise control, the car topped a hill and began a long, rather steep descent, gaining speed as it went. The cruise control was set for 60 mph and when the car's speed had increased to about 66 mph, the transmission downshifted and the engine raced to almost 6,000 RPM. I became flustered, took my attention from the road and began search the information display for problems. Finally I began to brake and slowed down to about 45 mph before the car began to act normal again. Dealer said I must have touched the "sport mode" shift paddles (standard on the 200C). I verified that these paddles are needlessly active even when the transmission shifting knob is in the D position and not in the "sport mode" and are extremely sensitive to the slightest touch, causing the vehicle to downshift unexpectedly. Dealer claimed there was nothing he could do about the issue!

After driving all day, I was on road after 8 pm. Driving 60 on highway. Car hiccuped then started decelerating quickly. Transmission light came on. Then, before I got to safe place to stop the dashboard started blinking message to put car in park and turn off. Had same problem less than 5000 miles ago. After a week and working with corporate, they said it was faulty power distribution box.

Vehicle lost acceleration while driving at approx. 45 mph (car was in drive). Car would not respond to throttle input, even though car was running. Had to coast to a stop, where I attempted to shift the car into park, neutral & the rotary dial would not move. Left car running with foot on brake for several minutes, when the car seemed to return to normal, as I was able to turn rotary dial into park & then back into drive. This is the second occurrence of this happening. Previous incident took place about 30 days prior. In both cases Chrysler service dept. Stated the car was fixed. According to dealer repair order. The car lost communication with tcm diagnostic code was U0101-00 performed star case [xxx] I feel this car is no longer safe to drive. Has been returned to dealer 4-6 times since purchased new in June of 2014. Transmission was replaced at about 3,000 miles. Currently pursuing lemon law...current status is the case is being audited. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I purchased this car brand new from a Chrysler dealer. Since I've had my car on several occasions ill be driving along and the vehicle will get stuck in a neutral position. Its happened at a variety of speeds from 10 mph to 60 mph. Two or three times it has done it when trying to cross a busy road almost causing me to be hit on my side at highway speeds. Once or twice it has even caused the car to stall. This is a very serious issue and going to cause many fatalities. It needs to be addressed. I've never hated a vehicle like this one.

1st time: On highway at 55mph got and error on dash: Service transmission then performance shifting not available 2nd time: After just 4-5 minutes of driving the car had same errors as above. At the next light, pressed gas and there was no revving of engine (rpms did not move). Put it into park and it said car is not in park, use emergency brake to prevent movement." Put brake on, then into D, then brake off and car went very slowly as it was stuck in 4th gear. Went onto highway and still stuck in 4th for a few miles (revving at 4,000 rpms at about 60mph). Suddenly the engine began revving itself up to 5.5K without my foot on the pedal, but there was no acceleration (like car was not in a gear). I pressed accelerator and nothing happened, it stayed at about 5.5K. I put car into N and the rpms dropped to about 1.5K, but car still not in a gear so it was losing speed so I moved to breakdown lane. Put it back into D and it again revved to 5.5K, but still no gear and lost speed. 3rd time: I would turn to D and it would take about 3-5 seconds before it clunked into gear. Car then shuddered a bit as I pulled out and then it gave the same errors as before: Service transmission then performance shifting not available on the dash. It also got stuck in 4th gear again so I could not accelerate properly. It also revved the engine randomly. In fact, I almost smashed into my garage because as I was slowly turning into my garage the car suddenly surged forward (imagine in a manual car, revving the engine and then rapidly letting out on the clutch) and I had to slam on the brakes to prevent it from going into the side of my house. If there were people walking in front of the car at a crosswalk, they would have been hit. This is not acceptable and not safe. Just as much I could easily get into an accident with another car, the way this car is behaving.

After only owning my vehicle for less than 72 hours, and driving about 380 miles, my transmission appears to have had a complete failure. I noticed it downshifting very hard at a stop light, then again a mile or so down the road. By the time I got to another stop light, my car downshifted so violently it slammed me into my seat belt and scared me badly. It felt as if the car had shifted in park while it was still rolling forward at about 10 miles an hour. When I attempted to accelerate away form the light, the car would not up shift, so I had to limp it into the next parking lot at 4K rpms at about 7 mph. When I pulled into the parking space, the vehicle would not shift into park. After several attempts, the car finally shifted out of drive into reverse, and after several more attempts, it finally shifted into park allowing me to turn off the engine. While I was not really injured behind a slight soreness from the seat belt, had I been traveling at highway speeds when the vehicle down shifted into park, there would have been a serious accident.

I was on a slight hill (approx 10-15 degrees) stopped the car and put it into park, pressed the engine start button to shut off the engine and opened the door to exit. As I lifted my weight out of the car, it began to roll backwards, my foot slipped under the car but I was able to hit the breaks with my other foot. Thinking it was something I did wrong, I pulled the car back up and repeated the same steps and it did the same thing again (this time with out my foot). I was then thinking, this is a brand new 31K+ car - it cant be doing this so I repeated a third time and it happened again. I called my dealer who instructed me to set the emergency brake on park selection on my radio and to bring the car in immediately! its now in the dealers shop as they are getting the hem and haw from Chrysler on what to do. I want this fixed asap as I am lucky the car did not run over me and crash into the cars behind me.

The day I bought my car I had problems with burning smells. I took my car back numerous of times and they said my brakes were braking in but all this time my transmission was leaking. It took 8000 miles for the dealership to find out I need a new transmission. I get my car back with a new transmission in it and two days later I have another leak in my new transmission.

Transmission shifted to neutral, sounding like going to "low gear", and slowing fast. Pressing the gas pedal did not help and after a while went into gear again by itself with a bang. Really bad situation if driving on a highway. I took the car to the dealer on 19nov14, they said that it never failed for them. Since then, the car failed 6 times, the last one today. There were times that the only solution was to stop on shoulder and shut the engine off. I took the car to the dealer on 06feb15, they did a software flash for PCM (flash software 1), updated car computer. On 04mar15 the transmission failed again with the same problem. This time happen again on a highway, luckily, no car was close behind. It could be dangerous if this happens at faster speed in a busy highway.

When decelerating going down a slight incline my foot was off the gas pedal. As I applied the brake pedal the car shifted but had accelerated as though I had pushed on the gas pedal. I had to forcefully apply the brakes even harder to keep from hitting the car in from of me. I have noticed this on other occasions as well but this time was different as there was someone in front of me. It is as though when the car shifts from 7th to 5th and also from 5th to 3rd the car lunges forwards. I have also notices the car will pull itself up a hill without applying the gas pedal when approaching a stop sign at the top of the hill. I am concerned I may inadvertently rear end another vehicle with this issue.

I was driving on the interstate in my brand new Chrysler 200 (barely 6,000 miles on it) around 6:00 am, going about 78 mph, when suddenly the parking brake appeared to engage, the radio went off while warning beeps were going non stop, and every warning on the dash was lit up, the car would not accelerate, and seemed to think it was in park while it was actually in drive. It still would not drive (was acting as though brakes were on when they were not) when the tow truck came 2 hours later and the driver was trying to get it onto the bed. As I was on the interstate when my car went into a swift and sudden deceleration I was almost seriously injured and, potentially, could have injured others. I was lucky it was so early in the morning and no one was hurt. I have not yet heard from the dealership as this only happened this morning, but I am terrified to ever drive that car again. I believe this should be looked into before anyone is injured or killed due to whatever caused this malfunction.

The controls knobs for the radio volume and station selection, the fan speed and the transmission selection are all clustered at the front of the center between the seats console. All are similar rotary knobs and are close together. When the car is parked. You can not change the gear selector with out pressing the brake peddle. When the car is in motion. The gear selector can be moved from "D? drive to ?N? neutral, to ?R? reverse, to ?P" park un-restricted. Example: As you are driving. You reach down to change the fan speed. You mistakenly change from drive to reverse. The car will start to slow down and stop. It you are watching traffic and you do not have the driver information display set to see the gear indicator. You may be confused and do not know why your car is stopping in traffic. There should be a detent (like all other cars I owned). Driving them you can change from drive to neutral and back while in motion. You can not change from neutral to reverse or park with out having your foot on the brake.
