The 2015 Chrysler 200 engine stalled, on several occasions, while the vehicle were in motion. For safety, I was forced to pulled over and wait, while restarting the engine.

On the night of 5/11 I came home from a business trip in a rental vehicle and pulled my personal vehicular out of my underground secured garage to take to a store approximately 1 mile away. After returning to my apartment I parked the vehicle in the outside parking lot just for that night as I parked the rental underground. About 15 minutes after parking my vehicle I heard 2 loud booming sounds I could hear from my apartment. About 20 minutes after the booming sounds three police officers came to my apartment door and told me my vehicle was on fire. They took me down to the parking lot and told me there was an explosion that led to the fire. They told me there was a witness who saw sparks flying which led the police detective and fire department to think it was an electrical issue that led to the explosion. There is a police report on file and I have filed a claim with my insurance. The engine compartment was completely engulfed in flames and the heat/fire damaged the two vehicles on either side of my vehicle.

The dealer determind that the transmission needed to be replaced. The consumer believed that the manufacturer did not complete the recall repairs before selling the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. When the vehicle was started, it stalled and jerked. The contact had to allow the engine to warm up for approximately 30 minutes before it operated normally. The contact noticed that engine oil spilled into the spark plug chamber. The vehicle was taken to car town Kia usa (3120 lexington road, nicholasville, ky 40356, (859) 887-4737) where the failure was confirmed. The throttle body, oil exhaust manifold, two engine sensors, and catalytic converter were cleaned and repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to dan cummins Chevrolet Buick (1020 martin luther king jr. Boulevard, paris, ky 40361, (859) 340-1649) where engine oil was found in the spark plug chamber again. The dealer cleaned the spark plug chamber and stated that the vehicle required an oil change every 3,000 miles. The dealer further stated that if the oil change was not performed, the engine would lose oil and the oil would flood into the spark plug chamber. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 58391349. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 83,309. Consumer stated dealer had us perform 1,000 mile oil consumption test by sealing dip stick/ oil access points and with our concern/ objection due to how the car quit on the hwy previous, but we were to drive for 1,000 miles and return to see results. At 884 miles we returned and the car with no sign of leaks used over a quart of oil. Valve cover-spark plug tube seal; basket:ignition coil; gasket; cylinder headcover under 5/22/19 power train warranty. Chysler manufacturer stated they would cover cost and rental car. They stated they would cover catalystic coverter replacement because the repair was done by an uncerified mechanic where we bought the car.

As I was driving home on the highway the check transmission light came on, I turned into a gas station and attempted to put the car in park and was unable too. A notification popped up stating the car was not in park and to apply parking brake to prevent car from rolling. I then put the car back in D but was unable to move, I then placed the car in R but also was not able to move. After attempting to put the car in park again with no success, I tried to turn the car off, this also was unsuccessful. The car would only go to acc, I was forced to leave the car in this mode until it cut off on its own. I returned to the car the next day and was able to start it, upon starting the car was in P and allowed me to go D and move the vehicle. Within 10 feet of driving on the street, the check transmission light reappeared, I then pulled into a parking space on the street and turned the vehicle off. This has been happened in this car at least 7 times and I have been back to the dealership I purchased the car from at least 5 times. Every time it was either a simple fix or they could not find anything wrong. I am now out of my warranty and may be forced to pay for a transmission to be fixed. I am risking the life of my 4 year old child every day I use this car. There is a recall for this exact issue but somehow my car was not included.

The contact stated that the failure was similar to NHTSA campaign number: 15V470000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was 65,897.

When engine is cold it stalls repeatedly when I slow down, stop, turn a corner or accelerate. Car is fine when it is hot but I can't always let it warm up for 10 minutes before driving. This morning was the worst when I pulled out of my subdivision and it stalled in the middle of the road with oncoming traffic having to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me. This is going to get me killed.

"cold start" my car had a recall for a device that needed to be replaced. "shuts off while driving" I was informed that it was replaced and this would solve the problem. "cold start" this is happening again in the mornings, the car starts fine: I'll sit and let it warm for about 5 mins. When I drive out the carport parking make a left, then making a right the car shuts off while driving. This has happened 2 time's last month. Same issue this month, but it has happened 10 times this month. I warm the car and then proceed to drive, shuts off completely, before it would start right up, now it's having a delayed starting issue as if it doesn't want to start. Same routine as to warming up my car, I made a right onto the street and when slowing down because there was a dip, car shut off, 3 attempts to start it up. The car shut off again at the stop sigh before heading into a major intersection of oncoming traffic. It is now taking at most 3 times to attempt before the car starts and now the needles in the car on the dash board roll over from the 0 and back. It also has a delay when trying to exhilarate. This is happened to my on the streets while in motion, making turns, driving straight. This is very dangerous and the recall specified that the car could shut off while on the highway.

Either myself or my wife have been driving our 200 and while driving it stalls outs. It has happened a number of times for just over a month now. Yesterday I was driving it and it made a bell sound and then I saw something flash about oil but it went off the screen pretty quick. I was slowing around a corner. This morning my wife was driving the 200 and stated that the vehicle stalled twice as she was coming up to stop signs.

The car engine keeps on stalling while it is in motion. The car suddenly stops while I am driving it. There are no warning lights, visual cues or sounds to indicate any problem. As a result, the car's power steering becomes inoperable. The speed of the car varies at the time of each incident. Each time this incident has happened, the car has become disabled in the middle of the street. There have been 5 incidents this past month. So far, the car has been able to restart after putting the car in park and after a couple of attempts of pushing the start button along with stepping on the brakes. It usually takes a couple of minutes. During that time, my car is in the middle of the street and in traffic. I have had my children in the car during some of these incidents. It is an extreme safety risk.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who noticed that the engine was bare and changed the oil; however, the failure recurred later during the week. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 46,000.

I have had this car 3 months and the following this has happen numerous times over 10 and almost cost me my life along with family members. 1. while driving the vehicle the engine shuts off for no reason with no warning lights. I must put the car in park and put brake on to restart car and the engine just continue to turn over before it catches. The vehicle has stalled/shut -off on me going over a railroad track with me and my grandkids in the car. I am so blessed no train was coming. 2. while driving the car will also shift unexpected to neutral. 3. when I go to accelerate the car will hesitate and jerk and act like it may be stuck in between gears. I have taken the vehicle back to the dealership and the salesperson drove the car and it happen to him as he was driving and came back and said I can't tell you the problem but you do have a major problem it shut off on him as he was driving it on a major road. I have taken it to a shop left it over night and the mechanic states you have major problems with this car. It is unsafe to drive. All this problem with the car has been while the car was in motion on city streets and highway. All of this started January 4, 2019. The 2015 Chrysler 200 is a death trap and lemon!
