I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY, UNDER 10 MILES PER HOUR, WHEN IT JUST UP AND DIED ON ME. TRIED TO RESTART, BUT WOULD NOT. LET IT SIT FOR 5 MINUTES, PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL AND HELD IT HALF WAY DOWN AND VEHICLE STARTED. BUT WOULD NOT IDLE. TRIED TO HOLD PEDAL AND PUT IT IN DRIVE.TO LIMP IT HOME, BUT DIED WHEN ENGAGING DRIVE. LONG STORY SHORT, IT WONT START OR RUN UNLESS YOU GIVE IT GAS, WILL NOT IDLE IN PARK, NEUTRAL, REVERSE OR DRIVE, AND THERE HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS. THAT BEING SAID, I'M ASSUMING SOMEONE HAS TO DIE IN AN ACCIDENT, MAYBE SEVERAL LIVES LOST BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. YOU PEOPLE DO REALIZE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AN ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING YES? LOSS OF BRAKES FOR THE MOST PART, POWER STEERING, ACCELERATION, THE LIST GOES ON...NOW PUT SOMEONE BEHIND THE WHEEL THAT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO REACT. BUT I GUESS Y'ALL MISSED THAT PORTION OF THE CLASS, OR YOU JUST DONT GIVE A [XXX]. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V352000 (air bags); however, the parts for the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While driving approximately 25 mph and attempting to make a left turn, the vehicle would not turn. The vehicle began to accelerate without warning. The contact depressed the brake pedal; however, the brake pedal was locked. The accelerator pedal floored automatically without any contact. The contact attempted to apply the emergency brake; however, it failed. The contact turned the vehicle off and continued to steer until it came to a slow stop. The contact restarted the vehicle, placed the gear in park with the emergency brake applied, and the vehicle idled at high levels. The contact made another attempt; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the oxygen sensor warning light was illuminated and the air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact informed the dealer; however, the vehicle had not been diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure or issue. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I have a 2005 Chrysler 300 touring edition, the driver's side tension strut failed causing my anti-lock brakes to fail. Due to the failure I had to swerve off of the road into a small ditch damaging my undercarriage and fender wells.

Unable to shift gear out of parking position. This issue was fixed August 2009 and is happening again. Unfortunately, I never know when the issue will surface and recently, I was in a not so nice neighborhood and frightened to death because I was unable to shift from park to reverse. After a few attempts of cutting my car off and on and executing the brakes, I was able to get the car going again. So over this issue right now.

Started car and tried to put it in gear. Could not get it out of park. A situation much talked about on line. The failure of the "transmission shifter interlock lever" commonly called "the pink thingy" on line some owners tell of having gotten a recall. I called my local Chrysler dealer. He said it depended on where the car was built if there was a recall. Imagine how happy that made me !!!
