300 Touring 5.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 106,630 miles

I have a 2005 Chrysler 300 touring with rear wheel drive. My head lights and dashboard flicker off and on whenever I'm driving at anytime. It's been happening for the past 3 - 4 months. I've checked with local Chrysler car dealers and repair and they don't have a clue of what is causing this and no solutions.

I would look at the window and the car would start up on its own. The head lights would come on by it self. The sunroof would not shut. I had to find someone to force it shut. The driver side power window and lock stop working. The CD player stopped working.

300 4.0L

I have a 2005 Chrylser 300 Touring and over the weekend on Saturday night I was out driving down the highway and my headlights began to flicker & completely went out! When the lights went out it was for a moment but at night without headlights (on a dark road) a few seconds, etc. seems like an eternity. Than they started to flicker off/on and go out again, before they stayed on; like this expensive car that I paid my money for should be doing. The next day was Sunday, So I called the nearest Chrysler Dealership BUT of course they are closed on Sunday's. I did some research on the internet and came across this site first and saw that another Chrylser 300 car owner is having the same problem ( in January) BUT the response she got from a Chrysler representative let me know she did not even take the time to research dimming/flickering lights because this women who posted the message had stated that she already took her car to the dealer & they could not figure out what the problem. So, why in the world would would this Chrysler representative tell her to take it the dealer AFTER she clearly stated that she already had done this...

I came across a posting where Chrysler has issued a service bulletin that in order to fix this problem the ECU needs to be updated with the latest software & it is going to cost US instead of the Dealer. I said O.K. this makes sense to me, BUT Don't you think this should be a recall or part of the LIFETIME Warranty!!!

It is a danger that could very well cause an ACCIDENT!! If not a recall than Chrysler should have the PROFESSIONAL courtesy to send out a letter about this hazzardous/dangerous defect that requires US to pay for this so-called unforseen deficiency! I recieve letters from the Chrylser dealer I purchased my car from because they want me to come back & BUY something, BUT you mean to me NO ONE from a corporate stand point can say that this is a dangerous and we should send letters too besides posting it on the internet (NOT everyone is internet savvy).

I feel that when the car was built this problem should have been foreseen and I am not pleased with the way Chrysler, as a whole entity, is attempting to resolve this defect.

I love my 300 had it since it was brand new.. Last month I notice my lights blinking in the middle of the day when I was behind a big truck. Since then it appears to happen almost everytime I start the car and tends to go away after 30 minutes of running. At night it is very dangerous. The lights will blink and sometimes go completely off.. When I turn them off they come back on..then go out again I turn the switch and they come back on.. Sometimes the dash lights also go completely out and other times they go from dim to bright and back to dim. Since I don't drive that often at night I've procrastinated in taking it to the dealership. I know by the time I get there the problem will be gone away because the car would have warmed up.. I think I will video the problem and take a DVD with me.

300 Limited 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles

I purchased this vehicle on 9/5/08 from Carmax with a 30 day warranty and 36k miles. The first night driving home I noticed the interior and exterior lights flickered, the steering wheel vibrates and the car makes a funny noise every time the air compressor kicks on. I took the vehicle back the next day and it has been in the shop since. Carmax did a diagnostic and said it wasnt related to the air compressor. They cleaned the throttle and replaced the light switch and added Freon. Same problems occurred. They sent it to a Chrysler service center and they tested the alternator and coolant system and can not diagnose the issue.

300 Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

I bought a used Chrysler 300 in 2006 (the car's year is 2005)

Shortly after I bought the car an aftermarket (mopar) car starter was installed by the dealership. At first since I didn't notice the problem before that installation I thought the installation caused it. But since the problem goes away for months at a time, it just may not have happened because I had only owned the car for a month or so.

Anyway, sometimes when I'm driving at night (esp. humid or damp times like early in the morning 4am with the dew and all) the lights will start flashing. High beam to low beam (back and forth up and down on and off) then fog lights on and off. dash lights may or may not join in and in the worst of cases, the lights all go off and the car goes dark but keeps on running.

I've tried turning the lights on and off to make it stop, fogs on and off. interiors on and off. making sure there's nothing on the passenger seat to trip some sensor.

It SEEMS to happen when it's damp or humid. I originally thought it was when the AC was in use, but no, it doesn't have any reliable effect on the problem.

THEN I noticed that it happens during the day as well because I've seen the dash lights flash on and off (this is harder to notice because it's daytime) but it happens. Or I won't be able to roll down one or more of the back windows, then a day or 2 later when I check, it's all okay.

sometimes my electrical lock won't open with one touch, but it takes two. Othertimes one touch is enough.

Luckily it hasn't shut the car down. but it has made it go completely dark at night on a dark road a couple of times and that's damned scary and very DANGEROUS.

I called Chrysler and have had it into the dealership twice to no avail. From the dealership - they can't help unless it's happening while it's there and it never does, one of the mechanics even took it home with him one night and it didn't happen.

Please help asap, my warranty is about to run out and I can't afford a big repair. What can I do to make sure Chrysler pays for this problem....what can I do to get them to ACKNOWLEDGE this problem.

It is crazy the way the lights go on and off like some evil carnival trying to kill me. But the dealership just thinks I'm crazy.

Believe me, if I wanted attention, I'd get it another way than being famous for my fantasy car problems. HELP ME PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE! Thanks in advance.
