I really love my 300 but if this problem is not fixed via Goodwill from Chrysler, although I was looking at the new 300 for my next vehicle, I will never buy another Chrysler (Jeep/Dodge) product - all over a radio. You see, I travel for work and depend on my radio for navigation and music (to calm me as I deal with the road/road ragers). Well whenever my car gets hot during driving or if it sits in the sun (parked) when I get in and attempt to access the navigation/radio system the screen is black so I can't do a darn thing with it. I can't see the screen to plug in any addresses. Funny thing is the radio will still work - but I'm just not going to memorize the settings for every radio station (AM, FM, satellite) and shouldn't have to. Called my old dealership. I say old because although I took my car there for scheduled maintenance and was a great customer, all they could say was I would need to buy a new one from them (or refurbished with only 90 day warranty). Heck, they didn't even ask me to bring the damn thing in for diagnostics to see if it was a problem they could fix. They just kept telling me I had to replace the damn thing. My feeling is that I shouldn't have to pay $3,000 to replace a factory manufactured and installed radio after only 5 years no matter how many miles are on the car. Heck, my Escalade is more than 5 years old and I have no problems with the radio. Until recently I had a 1996 Ford Escort and didn't have to replace the factory radio. As a matter of fact, for all the things I had to replace on my Escort, the radio was not one of them. I have never heard of someone buying a car with the knowledge that they will probably have to replace the radio after only 5 years. This morning after speaking to someone at another dealership, I called Chrysler and they told me I had to pay to have it diagnosed. Although I felt I shouldn't have to pay to have it diagnosed, I agreed. They said that once the diagnostics was done they would let me know if they would extend Goodwill. Ain't that some crap. They kept asking me about my mileage and whether I purchased the car new (I guess they were also considering the warranty situation). Goodwill depends on mileage and other factors. There should be no reason not to extend Goodwill as long as I haven't tried to tamper with the damn thing. I'm telling you, if nothing comes from this on the part of Chrysler I refuse to buy another Chrysler product - Jeep and Dodge included, in the future and will let all my friends, colleagues and anyone else who listens not to buy a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge product unless you have money to replace the radio after 5 years. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do about it?????????????

Lights in my center console have been going out one by one, then yesterday, the GPS screen went black. All the lights surrounding it are still on (for now) but I can't see what radio station I'm on, which CD I'm listening to, or use the GPS. Have an appointment tomorrow at the dealership where I bought the car new, scheduled for a diagnostic test which I know will cost way too much. Asked about the other lights one time when I was down there, asking where the fuses are, guess what? No fused, just electronic. The GPS went out one year after I bought the car too and they fixed it for free then, under warranty. But as everyone knows, nothing usually bad happens until the warranty has run out. We'll see tomorrow.
