300 Touring V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 76,500 miles

I called Chrysler today to let them know all my oil changes have always been done on time and I currently only have 76,500 miles on my 2006 Chrysler 300 touring and the auto repair places tells me the engine will now cost $3589. used or $ 6,145 new to replace it, which would also include labor!! I have never had any problems with any of my previous cars since I am very responsible with oil changes & car maintenance. I can NOT believe this many people have had issues with this 2006 Chrysler engine and the company with do Nothing to compensate for their terrible engine. I will not buy another Chrysler in the future at all since this is the way they handle business apparently!

As I was on highway 73 in New Jersey heading to Baltimore, I saw smoke through my side mirror behind me and tried to pulled over. After I pulled over I managed to open the hood as I was shocked to see the car smoking like that because there was nothing whatsoever wrong with the car before I set for my trip. When I opened the hood I saw smoke allover the engine with flame of fire around the exhaust manifold, the fire lasted for about 5 minutes and went off by itself. After a few minutes, I started the car but it won't start. What can I do as am seriously confused.

Four days after a routine oil change on my 2006 Chrysler 300 (Hemi, total mileage: 50k miles) I heard a loud noise coming from the engine after starting it. The whole car shook violently as I heard metal banging in the engine. Thinking it was caused by the oil change, I had it towed back to the auto center at Walmart in Fayetteville, GA and filed a claim. Meanwhile, I filed a claim with Allstate Insurance and got rental car.Two days later Walmart told me that they reviewed the video and it was not caused by any fault or error of their technicians.

I had the car towed from Walmart in Fayetteville, GA to Landmark Dodge in Morrow GA to find out what was wrong with the engine. A week later the service department at Landmark Dodge called and said that a valve had blown and that the repair cost would be over $8,000. I told him that I do not have $8,000. I asked how could the engine blow with just 50,000 miles on it. I reminded the service rep at the dealership that it had only been driven less than 7,000 miles a year for the last 8 years! He said that he had seen it happen before with mileages of 100,000 on Chrysler 300s but not with 50,000 miles.

I purchased this car brand new in 2006 and no one else has ever driven my car. I don't even drive fast. This is an awful experience. If anyone has any suggestions please contact me through the carcomplaint.com web form.

300 C Hemi

  • Automatic transmission

I am really angry that my engine decided to blow without warning. The car was running just fine. A few days ago I was took it to go get a wheel alignment and when the mechanic asked me to start it up and pull it up to the service window, it wouldn't start. The mechanic looked under the hood and told me my engine was blown. I was devastated, and I couldn't grasp the fact that I just all of a sudden without warning needed a new engine. My engine light didn't come on, my hadn't been making any noise, no warning at all. I am really frustrated. To make matters worse, I've been doing a lot of research since it happened. There have been so many other cases identical to mine. I don't understand why Chrysler hasn't addressed the problem. I am so pissed!!!!!

300 6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I bought this car new in 2007 as a left over...zero miles. I pampered this car...well I did spend over 30 grand!

Today the car just died. I took it to two different mechanics...yup, towed it twice. They both said the same exact thing. The timing chain let go destroying the valves etc. long story short, the car is now junk metal. I am still making payments on it. I am also paying a repair bill from two months ago when the entire front end collapsed. Different rant.

Anyway, I am told this is very common and hoping to find people with similar issues for possible class action suit.

Really...a car with 80,000 miles still being paid for should not have to be towed to a junk yard for scrap metal. Way to go Chrysler.

I am told this is not unusual.
