This is the second Chrysler 300 that we have owned with the exact same problem if Chrysler knows this is an issue i feel like we the people have worked our butts off for our hard earned money and would appreciate a well put together vehicle or have the issue repaired or recalled or something this is ridiculous. If the problem would cause death or injury, then they would surely have a recall or be sued.

engine failure due to oil sludge engine failure due to oil sludge engine failure due to oil sludge engine failure due to oil sludge engine failure due to oil sludge engine failure due to oil sludge

I bought a 2006 Chrysler 300 basic with the 2.7L engine brand new, I have 161,209 miles; I maintained good service on my vehicle for the last 8yrs., with no major issues. On January 16, 2014 the throttle control light came on and my vehicle stopped for the first time ever on a Friday evening in the middle of traffic. I called road service for a tow and took it to a authorized mechanic, I was told that the throttle body needs replacing so that's what I did. On January 26, 2014, I took my vehicle to the dealer were I normally get it serviced because my vehicle's check engine light and throttle control light is coming on intermittently when driving and the vehicle is running rough, jerking and stalling out. The scanner test P0301 are active in ECM. One trip failure for P0300 multiple misfire, while Service moved the vehicle from the parking lot into the bay the engine was making a loud clatter noise from the right side cylinder head, Service needed authorization to remove the upper platinum and the valve cover for inspection. After the removal of the right side valve cover Service found that the cylinder head, were all gunked up, no oil pressure up to the valve train. The Assistant Service Manager stated; due to severe oil sludge build up in oil passages the vehicle needs New Engine.

The 2.7L engines (the “Engines”) used in the Chrysler 300's were defectively designed. As a result of this design defect, these engines are prone to accumulate engine sludge which, regardless of routine maintenance, frequently results in engine failure. The complaints of its customers, DCC was on notice that the 2.7L engine was defective and would fail prematurely regardless of routine maintenance. Nonetheless, DCC has routinely denied, and continues to deny, claims made under its extended powertrain warranty, and its extended warranties, and/or otherwise refuses to reimburse the costs of repairing or replacing these engines. DCC has established an unpublicized partial reimbursement program available to persons who are referred to it from certain auto safety advocates. This program provides partial reimbursements to qualify claimants, even if these claimants Vehicle’s are beyond the time or mileage limitations of applicable warranties. By extending this secret program to some but not making it available to all Vehicle owners, DCC has acted arbitrarily, improperly and engaged in an unconscionable business practice.

I am appalled that Daimler Chrysler Corporation (DCC) is not taking responsibility for the defective engine design in their 2.7L engines. We all know what transpired, the American car industry is being funded by the federal government; our tax dollars are being used to assist DCC in perpetrating a fraud. Their Dealerships are swearing up and down that they knew nothing of the defective engines and sold these vehicle with out conscious; to the American consumer. We were duped into believing that we were buying a sound product; this was an investment and now it just a bucket of bolts sitting in my garage.

Where was the Federal Government and all the agencies that claim they will protect us; the American consumers, from big industry that's gouging away at our hard earned incomes, where every dollar counts in our lives.

Very disappointed with Chrysler. There should be a recall on these engines. There are too many people with the same complaints.

THIS CHRYSLER 300 ONLY HAS 60,000 MILES AND IT IS NOT LOGICAL THAT THE ENGINE WOULD DIE ON ME WITH SUCH LOW MILES. WHILE DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR I FOUND THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLERS. WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED THE REPAIR SHOP INDICATED THAT IS WAS THE BATTERY FOR THE KEY. THAT COST ME 141.00 PLUS THE COST TO HAVE THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. AFTER DRIVING LESS THAN 3 MILES FROM THE REPAIR SHOP MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WAS TOWED BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP. THEY PUT IT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC FOR A SECOND TIME AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. THIS CONCLUSION WAS BECAUSE THEY NOTICED THAT WHEN THEY OPENED THE OIL CAP IT WAS CREAMY, INDICATING A BLOWN GASKET. SO I HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND THEIR DIAGNOSTIC FINDINGS WAS THE TIMING CHAIN AND WATER PUMP. I HAVE SINCE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL CERTIFIED MECHANICS AND THEY ALL AGREED THAT IT WAS GOING TO NEED A NEW MOTOR BASED ON WHAT THEY SAW WITH THE CREAMINESS WHEN THEY OPENED THE OIL CAP. TELL ME WHY I FOUND OTHER CHRYSLER 300'S HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. I FEEL I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET SOME ASSISTANCE FROM THE CAR MAKER FOR THIS BAD SITUATION. I'M SURE THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEMS WITH OTHER CHRYSLER 300'S

engine failure due to oil sludge engine failure due to oil sludge engine failure due to oil sludge

We bought our Chrysler new from Demontrond in Conroe, Texas. Right at 20K miles the car at times would not accelerate when accelerating and the engine light would come on briefly. I took the car into the dealership and was told that without the light being on they could not tell what was wrong and to bring it back when it came on. I did this 8 times over the course of 2 years and even after hooking up the car to the diagnostic machine they could not tell what the problem was. (It should be noted that Demontrond has not record of my bringing it in during this period) Recently, after some pushing of the issue, the dealership looked at the engine and said that it had the worst sludge problem they had ever seen and blamed it on not changing the oil (we did, every 8k miles.). Because of this, they will not honor the extended warranty that we bought with the car. Now, I have to put oil in my car every 7 days as it is bone dry at that point and from what I understand the engine will eventually seize.

THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION IS SICK IN THE HEAD IF THEY THINK I WOULD NEGLECT A $32,000 VEHICLE. THERE ARE KNOWN REPORTS ABOUT ENGINE SLUDGE WITH THE 2.7L ENGINES AND THEY PLACE THE BLAME ON ME THE CONSUMER, CLAIMING THEY WONT REPAIR MY VEHICLE UNDER THE WARRANTY. I HAVE DONE THE RESEARCH ABOUT THIS ENGINE, AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES IN REGARDS TO THE DEFECT ENGINES THEY HAVE IN THEIR VEHICLES... CHRYSLER SUCKS AND I AM GOING TO WRITE THAT ON MY CAR AND LET IT SIT ON THE A MAJOR HIGHWAY HERE IN MISSOURI FOR EVERYONE TO SEE... BEWARE OF THE 2.7 LITER ENGINES UNTIL THEY REPAIR IT I ALSO PLAN TO RENT A BILL BOARD TO DISPLAY THIS MESS FOR ALL TO SEE.
