I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 Touring 3.5L engine. Whenever, the key is placed in the "ON" position for any length of time (seconds), my car will start stalling and will not turnover unless I press gas pedal. The engine stalls primarily when driving at low speeds....i.e. turning, sitting at a light or stop sign, etc. In fact, I had an accident due to the car stalling at a stop sign. This type of performance will last for approximately one week before returning to normal. If there are any suggestions, I am all eyes and ears.

My 2006 Chrysler 300 Touring started shutting off while driving back on 08/10/2016. When it shut down there is no warning, it looses power like it ran out of gas or electrical power. I replaced the MAP sensor, the PCV valve, the Cam shaft Positioning Sensor, cleaned the intake manifold, cleaned the EGR valve, clean the Electrical Control Mogul, and the problem still exist. I notice when I fill the gas tank, and the fuel needle reaches the half way mark, that when the shut off problem start's and does not stop until the fuel needle each the notch past the half tank mark.
I have to pull over turn the key switch off and try to restart the engine. Sometimes in shuts right back off again, after about three tries the engine start's up. When the fuel hand gets closer to the red empty mark, the engine never stall's until I fill it up past the half tank mark. Then it immediately start shutting down. I have done every thing I can think of besides replacing the fuel pump.
I recently heard that the TIPM in some Chrysler 300 have a defect. It's the only car I have to drive back and forth to work, but I do not want to spend anymore money on that shiny hunk of junk. Can anyone give me some type of advise what to do next? Any suggestion would be helpful because the situation is getting worse and it is very dangerous to stall out like that in the middle of traffic.

There are others who are owners of the same kind of vehicle that relate same problem. Mechanics state to wait until completely die out before they can diagnosis problem. Very scary and feel unsafe driving.

Car has shut off numerous times. Dealership cannot find the exact problem . They replaced timing belt, water pump, left side cam gear, sensor. Problem continues, the dealership has had the car again for two weeks, still to date no solution. The car had not given us any problems but we started noticing this just this year. Someone told me that it might be the gas tank. This is dangerous, it never gives you any warning when it will cut off, it has done it in the middle of traffic. It generally will start up again but that might be too late. It is a shame that with all the technology Chrysler can not find the problem. We are senior citizens and do not want to by another car, but this is scary.

Ok, my 300 keeps stopping on me at stops. I have been forced to drive with 2 feet, to keep it on. I have taken it in to mechanic and paid over 3,000 on cooling system. I had the Electronic Throttle Control light going n, and the car was surging in addition to stopping, on freeway even! My mech thinks it might be the valve, mentioned something about EGR. It's like the process of elimination with this car! Actually I've had the car since 2006, with just 7 miles on it. NEVER had any major problems, until now! I'm at a loss, and so is my mechanic and my wallet! I'm not sure what to do. Is this a sign of the car falling apart? I found out that the 2006 is the worse model! GREAT! I had the head gaskets replaced, the thermostat housing replaced when it overheated on freeway. But now all these other problems! HELP!

On 9/03/15 engine light came on. The shop installed new EGR valve & cleaned fuel injector induction system, combustion system, throttle body plate & combustion chambers for $901.33! Around 02/08/2016 my car started something new! While stopped at any place with the engine in drive it would cut off! I would re-start it & put it in drive, it shuts off! I had to drive with both feet, one on the gas pedal & using the other to stop while not letting the gas peddel all the way up to keep the revs up to keep the engine running!!
I took the car back to the shop on 02/25/2016. I explained the problem the shop diagnostics said the car tge Electronic Control Unit was faulty & needed to be replaced. It was replaced For $609.96. I picked the car on 02.29/2016. Drove 3 miles, stopped at a red light & the engine shut off! I re-started it twice. Drove home using the two foot dance step! I drove it 03/01 & 03/03, 2016 the total cutoffs are now 19 total.
I think the problem is a bad (Fuel Pump Pressure regulator) & I'm not a Mechanic! I will suggest this when I take the car back to the shop. I heard that Chrysler knew something about this & set a date for recall in January 2014, but never made it known to car owners. If this true, SHAME ON YOU CHRYSLER MY NEXT CAR IS A "SKATEBOARD" THAT I CAN FIX MYSELF!!

Bought car new and garaged when not driving. Dealer was driving car back to my house after hopefully fixing gas leaking from gas tank they had just worked on. Said they think they may have pinched an o-ring on transfer pump or fuel pump. While dealer was driving car to me less and 5 miles from dealership he called me and said it just (engine) shut down. Was having it towed back to dealership. Said maybe a connector to the fuel tank will fix it.

While I'm driving the electric throttle light comes on. When it first started it was in the morning getting ready to leave for work. All I would do is turn car off and start it again and the light wouldn't come on no more that day. Now the light comes on while I'm driving and my car either reduce speed or stalls right in the middle of traffic!!!!!!!!

The 2006 Chrysler shut completely off while driving at 50 mph; the windshield wipers would come on by themselves briefly, then the car engine would shut off; we had to coax to a full stop.
This a life-threatening situation, there should have been a recall for this since there are no warning lights and you could be driving at high speeds and, if this happens, it could result in a fatality. And the average mechanic cannot detect the problem!!

I just found out that Chrysler knows about this problem and they just are trying to hide it and give a recall to some models. It's very dangerous when I have to drive my kids to school and the car stalls. I almost got into an accident the other day. My mechanic told me that the TIPM is malfunctioning and we decide to look it up on the internet and we see that this is a common problem with these cars.

The problem with the car stalling on me happened twice in November 2014 and on January 25, 2015. Both incidents happened right after I filled up the tank and stalled on me when the car is at a stop light. It suddenly died and I have to turned off the car then turned the ignition and the car started running. I had a car repair shop check it last November 2014 and could not find anything wrong with it. As of now, it is running but I'm afraid to drive far places knowing it can stall at anytime.

We would drive down the road and step on the gas and the car would slow down. Way down. Pull over to the side of the road . Restart and all is good until next time. Cost $500 and the mechanic found a vacuum leak that occurred after driving for a while. Has not happened since.

My 2006 300M dies if you fill the tank until the gas pump shuts off automatically. This has happened numerous times to us. It has happened after filling up at many different gas stations. The car stalls. It can be restarted, but might stall multiple times. After the car runs for a few minutes or travels about a mile the problem resolves itself.
-This has happened twice when I was merging onto expressways after filling up. DANGEROUS! The first few times it happened I complained to the dealership. They said, "they hadn't heard of this problem, and told me not to overfill the gas tank!" It must be the owner's problem if they have a dangerous design flaw!

Two weeks ago I was backing out of a parking space when my Chrysler 300 stalled out. The only light that popped on the dashboard was the red lightning bolt, the Electronic Throttle Control light. I cranked the engine back up and the dashboard lights were off, but then it happened a second time. On the third try, all lights were out and I was able to drive away. A few days went by before the car stalled out again, this time while I was stopped at a traffic light, but once again, it cranked right back up and I was able to drive off. This has happened at least once every other day since then.
In the last two weeks I have been to the Chrysler service center and to my personal mechanic, but there has been no fix; the service tech at Chrysler said that the air filter was put back incorrectly, and after they fixed it the car should drive fine - false. My mechanic said that he was unable to determine the problem because as of right now the car is storing no codes. The stalling out is happening more and more as each day goes by but today the car cut off while I was in the middle of an intersection attempting to turn left at a low speed. Leading up to that particular engine failure, no matter how hard I pushed the gas I could not get the car to go above 45 mph and I felt a lot of resistance in the way it was driving. At this point I have already spent $2000 in repairs for other issues with this car (replaced: TCM, O2 sensors, catalytic converter, sparks and plugs, ball joint, etc.), and I have barely had it for a year.
If anyone else has had this issue or a similar one, please send me your suggestions for fixing it because I am at my wits end with this stupid car!

I bought this brand new 2006 Chrysler 300. I love this good looking car, but this car scare us many times, the engine will stop while driving it . We taking good care , well maintain . Right now this car only has 42000 miles because we scare to drive far to avoid any accident . Bring to dealership and they fix some part but the problem always there. And 2 weeks ago I hear funny noise creaking so I take to the Firestone just want to check it because I do not trust the Chrysler dealership in my town. I was shock when they call me that the engine in my car almost come to the end ( failure). I have several cars with the big mileage ( 2007 Altima 5800 mile, 2001 Suburban 90000 miles- 2005 Toyota Camri 90000) All the cars, no problems at all. Please help me

I was driving down a busy highway when all of a sudden, my car shut off. I restarted my car and it shut off again. I tried starting again for the third time and it starting making a rumbling noise and while pressing on the accelerator, the car didn't accelerate. It appears to me that the gas wasn't pumping properly. Eventually, the car wouldn't start at all.
I had the car towed to the nearest repair shop. It was determined by the mechanics that the improperly installed pump by Chrysler's Co. caused damaged to the sensors, the timing belt and the pump itself. The engine was spitting out a substance that looked like pink bubble gum. I telephoned Chrysler repair service to inform them of the same to see if there was a recall on the call or if they would fix the problem since the mileage on the car was around 57,000 miles and the timing belt should not have gone bad that soon on the car. Chrysler's representative told me there is no way they would fix the car due to manufacturer default and there was no recall on the car. The representative also suggested that I have the car fixed by the repair shop where the car was towed. He also said that if I had the car towed to them, it would cost me more in labor costs, and that he was familiar with the repair shop where the car was and suggested to use them because their labor costs was less than Chrysler's. Therefore, I had the other repair shop fix the car.
The mechanics said there was no way the timing belt should have gone on a well maintained car. I did all of my oil changes, maintenance, etc. on my car. I am appalled that Chrysler would not reimbure me for all or some of the repair costs of $1,400. Chrysler representative RC1329 said Chrysler will not reimburse me for the costs because I had the car fixed by another dealer. When you have an emergency, and there is no Chrsyler repair shop nearby for miles, what do you think I was supposed to do? These cars might look good on the outside, but they have major problems with their engine. Beware!

Bought my Chrysler 300 in 2007. It was running good until just the beginning of this year (2010). Here's the problem. When I stop at a light, the engine would shut off by itself. I wouldn't know when it's shut off because the lights and music would still be on but when I step on the gas petal, the car would feel like it's on nuetral when it's not. I don't know if this means the engine is really "shut off" but that's how it feels to me. This has happened a lot of times already. Sometimes this will happen while i'm driving on the freeway. I'll try to speed up the car and it'll shut down on me. It's dangerous and it's to the point where i'm sick and tired of always having to restart the car. I've been begging my husband to take it in to get it checked but he thinks it's no big deal since he doesn't drive the car.
Don't get we wrong. I love my Chrysler but at this point, i'm about ready to give the car up. I've looked online to see if anyone else have the same problems but so far I haven't come upon any complaints that sounds like mine. If there is and I over looked it, please let me know what the problem is and how it was fixed or how to fix it.

When driving and slowing down or stop , when I try to go again, there is no power, this has happened several times. I put it in the shop and about 15 codes showed up. they checked wiring and cleaned connectors and made sure all the wiring was in place and tight.. then rechecked the codes and only the oxygen sensor showed. They put in a new oxygen sensor. The check engine light went off.
After driving it for about 15 minutes, the check engine light came back on and when I slowed down, it lost power, this time , it wouldn't even move when accelerating.
It works ok for awhile after turning off the ignition and then back on again, but will again lose power when I stop or slow down.
I can't get it back to the shop till Monday as they are closed over the weekend.
This is dangerous and could cause an accident with the sudden loss of power.
