I here to report what seems to be an on-going issue with the older model Chrysler 300's. I have an 2006 and just recently started smelling gas fumes or an gas odor inside my car. I had a mechanic look at the problem. He assumes it was a cracked or damaged seal. He took the backseat out and looked. The ring was intact but the fuel filter had a small crack in it. We fixed it and thought the problem was over. He said the car would have a heavy fuel smell for a couple of days but would go away once the car was aired out. 3 DAYS go by and though the fumes remained. Now, i see that gas isactually leaking from the underside of the rear passenger side. And the smell is still there. I am taking the car to another repair shop to do a more through exam of the car. Leaking gas should be the least of my problems.

Every time you fill the vehicle with gas, the car dies shortly after fueling with out any kind of warning. After you drive a little ways and burn some of the fuel from the tank, the car runs fine. The driver has no warning and the car has trouble starting after it dies. I was almost in a serious accident because I pulled out of the gas station after filling with fuel. I was in heavy traffic and the car died. The car is quite and I didn't realized the car died. I just kept pressing on the gas peddle until I observed the RPM gauge was on zero. I had no warning. I bought this vehicle used with low mileage. I thought is was a isolated incident, but sadly was wrong. It happens every time you fill it up with gas and may die once or several times. There are no pre-warnings for the vehicle stalling. All acceleration, powers steering, and power brakes were gone with out warning. A quick search on the internet reviled this is a defect in the gas tank design and Chrysler has not stepped up to fix this. Chrysler said the only fix is a new fuel tank and they are are aware of the issue. Chrysler also change the design of the fuel tank in later models because of the defect please hold the maker accountable for dangerous and life threatening defect.

Vehicle intermittently stalls when slowing down to stop or slowing down to turn a corner. All power shuts down and check fuel light comes on. Check engine light does not come on. Has only happened with a partial tank of gas-never with a full tank - remaining mileage has been between 75 and 123 miles left. Has only happened at slow speed. Dealer has worked on it 4 times each time closing ticket as fixed except for the last time. Have talked to service director about problem with no results. Vehicle has 123000 miles.

Did meet with service director but have not had any response. No power when it happens.. all instances are on city paved streets. Restarts on first try. Check fuel light comes on but check engine light does not. Dealer has worked on it 3 times and replaced parts but it has not fixed the problem. They really have no idea what is going on.

After filling up the gas tank, the vehicle started stalling right after I started driving away from the gas station. I was in the middle of the road, during a heavy traffic hour on city street. After turning off the vehicle and waiting a few minutes, I was able to restart but the vehicle stalled again. This has happened quite often. I have brought the vehicle to the dealership and they said nothing is wrong, but the problem keeps getting worse. After talking with them today, they said to bring the vehicle in almost full of gas and they will top it off and check for the stalling. This is the first time they acknowledged this issue. I am concerned about driving the vehicle to the dealership, knowing it will stall in traffic. The cost to repair if not covered is approx. $1,500. I asked about the extended lifetime coverage and was told to contact you. My problem matches exactly what is documented in your investigation document PE 13-016.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled after it was refueled. The vehicle was towed to world Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram (681 shrewsbury ave, shrewsbury, NJ 07702, (732) 918-1380). The dealer rewired the electrical line to the fuel pump. After the contact retrieved the vehicle, it stalled again and was towed back to the dealer. The dealer stated that there was a loose fuel line that caused the issue to recur. The vehicle stalled again and was taken back to the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that a case manager would call him back. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 199,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that there was a constant loss of power and the vehicle stalled numerous times. The failure occurred intermittently. The manufacturer provided extended warranty campaign (X53) for the fuel tank replacement, but the remedy failed. Shore motor company (222 S 16th St, clarinda, ia 51632, (712) 542-6581) indicated that the manufacturer had not issued a recall. Tri state Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (2017 S main St, maryville, mo 64468, (660) 582-3677) diagnosed that the power train control module needed to be replaced and they had seen five other models with the same failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA action number: PE13016 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the failure was related. The manufacturer provided no solution and indicated that the vehicle may be sold. The failure mileage was not available... consumer stated for the past 3.5 years consumer had problems on numerous occasions, shutting off without warning. Fuel tank was replaced twice and fuel pumps replaced. It was advised consumer sell the vehicle.

After putting gas in my car gas tank the entire interior of the vehical will smell like gas fumes. When I park the car in my garage the smell is so strong my entire garage will smell like gas. This has occurred ever since I purchased the vehicle in June of 2018.

The contact owned a 2006 Chrysler 300. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact pulled the vehicle over and a loud abnormal noise came from the fuel tank area. The vehicle caught fire underneath the hood and undercarriage. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle was totaled and towed to a junkyard. The manufacturer inspected the vehicle and cut a piece of wire from the fuse box; however, they were not able to assist. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 180,000.
