After filling my tank my car wouldn't start. Called my husband waited for him approx 15 minutes and car started. As I left the gas station and accelerated the car stalled in the middle of a 3 lane busy street. I coasted with no power to the right and turned on my hazards. After multiple attempts to restart it I had it towed to my mechanic. He couldn't find anything wrong, picked it up next day, seemed fine. Started filling tank to 3/4, accidentally filled full 1X since, same problem last night. Called 2 Chrysler dealers this morning (4/8/14) to fix problem. They said Chrysler is working on fix, nothing they can do. Sooooooooo dangerous!!!!!! this is wrong, I have little kids and I am scared to death car will die in middle of intersection.

I had just filled up with gas and as I pulled out in traffic, my car stalled. I was able to pull to the shoulder and restart the engine. Next day, I filled up with fuel and the same problem. I have had this problem every time I fill with fuel since the initial experience. Now my car stalls about six to eight times before it runs normal after filling with gas. Chrysler told me that the car was beyond the warranty at the time of the first incident and refused to fix the problem except at a cost of about $2000. Now Chrysler says that I was notified earlier and did not contact them within the allotted time. I was never notified. I am the original owner of the car. I am referencing PE13-016 and informing you that Chrysler is refusing to meet its obligation. Please help me!

From what I've learned there's a defect in Chrysler automobiles with the hemi engine. Any time the gas tank is filled, if a sharp left turn is taken the car stalls out. This is exactly what has happened to me periodically over the last two years. I brought the car to two local mechanics and the Chrysler dealership, nobody could figure it out, it doesn't show up on the car's computer. Finally, a third mechanic googled it and came up with an article in the L.a.times that perfectly described my situation (duh, I should've thought of that). It wasn't until the car stalled in the middle of a busy road, on a Friday afternoon, with my two-year-old daughter in the car, that I really had an issue. I was able to roll into the parking lot of a shopping plaza, so it ended alright, but if there was nowhere to go that could've spelled disaster! as a guy I can handle a situation like this, but when children are involved a defect of this type is unacceptable. I'm the original owner of the car, so it's not related to user error by any means. In the end the third mechanic quoted me $1800 for a new gas tank + lines + labor, or I could not fill my tank to the top when I get gas. Thanks Chrysler! plus, the shifter for the automatic transmission on the 300C will lock up, not letting the driver shift from park to drive. Thanks again Chrysler for stranding my pregnant wife! (I still have the shifter in my garage hoping that will be a recall).

The vehicle began repeatedly stalling after being filled with gas and at low speeds. This went on for months. My son had the vehicle in another town and when he returned to our house we took it to our mechanic who diagnosed a fuel valve problem. We then took it to the poway Chrysler dealer who agreed with the diagnosis. They said it was a fuel tank vent valve failure causing fuel to be sucked up into intake purge line. Excessive fuel was seen by the powertrain control module and they proceeded to repair the problem by installing a new fuel tank. Although this is apparently a well documented problem in 2006 Chrysler 300S, my car was not covered in a recent decision by Chrysler to extend the fuel tank warranty.

When I would fill up with gas my car would stall and shut off as I approached a traffic light to stop or slow to make a turn. I contacted Chrysler on May 15, 2013 about my car. I was told to take it to the dealer and I did but they say without the engine light coming on they would have to keep the car 4 to 5 days and break it down. Then I read in the paper that you has closed the investigation into engine stalling in some 2006 Chrysler cars after the company extended the fuel warranty. No one contacted me about the extended warranty (they should have after I contacted them of the problem). I emailed them again and they said that the extended warranty had expired. The fuel tank problem was and probably is on a lot of 2006 Chrysler and because they never notified anyone of the problem we are responsible for the bill. I had been having trouble with my car for about two months before I contacted them. I would fill up with gas and start home and approaching a traffic light to stop my car shut off with no warning and no engine light ever came on. Got it started and came to the next light and started to make a left turn and it shut off again and on coming traffic was approaching. Got it started in time and going into the garage of my house and it stopped again. At first I thought it was the gas I was using but, no matter if it was exxon, citgo or bp it all was the same. Stalling and cutting off were a regular occurrence. I didn't get to go on vacation last summer because I didn't know what was happening to my car. It was a night mare. I think Chrysler did me wrong in not contacting me about the extended warranty after I had contacted them about the problem I was having.

I'm writing this because I believe that these 300S with hemis are death traps waiting to happen and strongly feel that a recall is necessary. It's happened about 8 times since we bought the vehicle in July, 2013 but the latest was last week, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at about 11:30pm. My husband, my 6 mo baby, and myself had just filled up the gas tank on our way home. We were making a right turn out of the gas station and onto the main road, when the car went completely dead. The engine shut down and the steering wheel locked up. My husband had to put the car in park and, after about 3 attempts and a good 20 seconds or so, he finally got the car started. It spurted a little but started to move. About a mile later, we were pulling onto our street, when the car died again and did the exact same thing. Lucky for us there weren't many cars on the street and everyone was alright but this is not safe! this has happened in the middle of the day when oncoming traffic was going full speed, at least 45 mph!! someone can die! after this latest incident, I've refused to drive the car due to it's unreliability and our car is currently at the dealership and has been for the past 2 days-going on 3. it took the service manager 2 days to figure out it's a faulty gas tank and that's after we told him about the NHTSA investigation, action number: PE13016, which just ended, February 10, 2014. Apparently, Chrysler extended it's warranty to cover gas tanks for a lifetime but, not for all Chrysler 300S! we are being charged $1,905 for our gas tank to be replaced, which should be eligible for a lifetime warranty on our fuel tank but I called Chrysler today and they told me that there is no extended warranty attached to our VIN. Please help before someone gets seriously injured and recall all gas tanks or at least extend the warranty to cover more, if not all Chrysler 300S!!

The car was filled up with fuel and no more than 2-5 miles from the gas station while driving the engine cut off with no warning while in traffic. Was able to restart the engine and continue on and within a mile it stalled out again in traffic. This time the car would not start. The car was pushed to the side of the road. The oil pressure light was also coming on so did not want to push the car and cause further damage. After 45 mins I restarted the car fine and was able to drive 1 mile before it stalled out at a stop sign. Again no warning and the car lost all power and you were unable to stop the car easily or turn the wheel since all power was lost. The oil pressure light did come on again but did not occur until after the car engine cut off and all power was lost. This time I checked the oil and the level was fine but I still added an extra quart of oil. Then within 5 mins I was able to start the car and drive it the rest of the way 1-2 miles to the dealership. Upon arriving at the dealership we checked the error coded. The dealership than changed the oil and did a full inspection and drive of the car and was unable to reproduce the issue I was seeing before going to the dealership.

After refueling my car (06 300C srt8) several time at low speeds or at a stop the car has stalled and took several times to restart. If the car is empty and is filled only to 3/4 ways this does not happen. The car is at the point when ever it is filled over 3/4 mark and depending on the drive it has stalled several time until under 3/4 mark.

After filling the Chrysler up with gas for the last 6 months, maybe more, the car starts and then within 3 feet it shuts off. The computer says that the system is ok. This happens 3 to four times in traffic. It has caused minor bumper problems. It is a serious safety issue. Finally, it was supposedly, inspected by bettenhausen, Fiat in tinley park, but we never got a response or the problem alleviate. It did the same thing today on the highway. Thank god, there were no cars next to me. I had to pull over because the car stopped without warning.

Vehicle constantly stalls after fuel fill up no matter where I get gas it has been doing this since late Oct now and it is dangerous to drive like this if I have to go out of town. It stops about 3 to 5 times after I fill tank with fuel then after a while it stops. Pulled into driveway and the engine stalled again. Momentum carried me under the carport. Restarted engine 5 more times. Each time it stalled out. Had to find alternate transportation for out of town trip. Cannot safely drive this vehicle with this continued issue. 300C.

Filled gas tank at station. Drove.25 mile and vehicle stalled while accelerating from a stop light. Stalled 3 more times within the next mile. I parked car and shut it off. Restarted 30 minutes later and drove about 1.5 miles and it stalled again while pulling into a parking lot. No problems until I filled up at a different gas station 5 days later. It stalled again after pulling out of the station. It always starts right up.

Not able to fill gas tank to full. If filled to full mark or allowed for gas station pump to automatically shut off at full. The vehicle will stall after a few blocks.this will happen 3-5 times before you can continue.this can happen at different speeds and is very dangerous.this started early 2012 and will do this at every full fill up. It has happened more than 15 times. I can not have a full tank anymore. I have owned the vehicle since 2010 and had 30K miles on it. It never had the problem till 2011 or about 60K miles.

I bought the 2006 Chrysler 300C new in 2007 and it worked fine until mid 2013. One day after getting off the freeway I pulled into a gas station and filled the car with gas. In about 1-2 minutes after leaving the station the car bucked then stalled. It took several attempts to get it started. This situation has happened over and over again. It came to a head this week when I went to the gas station filled the tank and soon after leaving it stalled in traffic -I restarted it after almost causing an accident got going and it stalled again. I restarted with great difficulty and entered the on ramp----as I was building speed it stalled for the third time in less than 5 minutes and this time I was so close to an accident. Now I have been to two dealerships and replaced numerous parts including the canister, some oil temp/pressure sensor, cleaned injectors, replaced plugs, a coil and too many to mention. The people at the dealership look at me like I am smoking crack ever time I complain. It wasn't until yesterday that I looked on the internet to find there are others with the same problem---I am not crazy. How do I get this fixed"?"

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300 C. the contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, the vehicle would stall. The failure was sporadic. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, who removed and flushed the fuel tank but to no avail. The dealer stated the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The contact did not replace have the fuel tank replaced. The failure mileage was 11,338. Updated 04/22/14
