The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that she placed her purse on the passenger seat. When she moved her purse, she noticed that it turned brown. The contact noticed that the passenger seat started to turn brown and crusted. The contact's husband unplugged the front and rear battery and the passenger seat started to smoke and caught fire. The contact's husband started to extinguish the fire with a water hose. The fire department was called and continued to extinguish the fire. The fire detector determined that something was on, which caused the fire. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The fire department extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed. There were no injuries. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to call the insurance company. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
