The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that with the engine running, the vehicle shift lever would not release from the park position. The contact researched and found that there was a small part that was possibly fractured and causing the failure. The dealer advised that the entire mechanism would have to be replaced because the part was not sold separately. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 30,000.

The vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated that it was a plastic latch pen that broke. The dealer stated that the entire gear shift needed to be replaced in order to repair the vehicle.
