300 Touring 3.5L V6 24 valve Mpi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,500 miles

Purchased our 2009 Chrysler 300 Touring brand new from the dealer and had them install a remote start on it within the first 30 days of having the car and changed out the car's remotes. A few months later the car would not start using the remote start or key in the ignition. Took the car to the dealer and they replaced the remotes to the car. Problem stopped for about a month and a half and started again. Took car back to dealership and they could not find any problems or reproduce the complaint and returned the car to us. Problem stopped again for about a month and a half and started up again. Took car back to the dealership and this time the Service Manager was able to reproduce the problem.

Service manager took the car in for repair and returned it saying that the gear shift sensor was bad making the car think it was in gear and keeping the car from starting. Returned the car and the problem stopped for a few months and it started again. Returned it yet again to the dealership and the same service manager took it back in for repair. This time he contacted an engineer from Chrysler in Detroit to diagnose the reoccurring problem. After a week in the shop they returned it saying it was fixed. Again a few months went by and it started again.

The car thinks it is running or in gear when it is off and in park. We learned that we can wiggle the gear shift and it will allow the car to start sometimes. Overall, the car has been in the shop about eight (8) times for the same problem since purchasing it. The car has low mileage (64,000). We have had to stop using the remote start all together because 9 out of 10 times the car will not start unless you jiggle the gear shift but it now takes several times of doing that to get it to start. I feel it should be fixed by the dealership even though the warranty is up because it has been a reoccurring problem since it was put into warranty.

Any one else having this type of problem or any suggestions. Should I contact the NTSB, or Chrysler Corporation and file complaints or ask Chrysler to fix the problem or replace the car?
