This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chrysler dealer.
So my vehicle had this really loud knocking sound in the engine area. I took to dealer so I can have it checked out and they said it is normal. That I was not used to having a HEMI engine. Well I took back again another time and they said same thing. The reason I took it because it was under warranty. Well as soon as warranty was over that same noise was a that valve seat was falling. Valve seat fell causing piston to crack and causing engine to completely fail. I hated that they said it was nothing, had engine inspected. Had car checked and now needs a new engine.
Luckily I took to my mechanic found a way to fix the main problem. Replaced the valve seat and the piston. As soon as he put all back together the car ran great and was quieter than I had purchased it. Funny thing is when I told dealer what had happened they said they had never heard of such a thing. So I ordered the part that was needed and they said "well that part is in back order" but they would put me on a list because there were 200 people waiting for the same part" So weird that they have never heard of such a problem but parts are in back order.

My father and I have always taken this car for service when recommended by the dealership. And one morning we went to power it on and it powered on but the car shook and then shut off instantly. It sounds as if there is something loose in the motor. This sucks that there are so many similar/ related articles with the same issue and a big Company like Chrysler not willing to take care of/ accommodate. :/

I purchased a Chrsler 300 on Feb. of 2011 with 31,000 miles. In great condition. Within a month or two the 1st problem that it gave me was the idol when up & down until sometimes the car shuts off. Took it to the dealer & they didn't find what it had . The car still has the same problem. After that the car gave me front end problems which I put new front struts and new rotors, link arms and tension bars. The car still has a noise in the front and now with 41,741 miles the cars has a tapping on the engine which it sounds like a bad lifter, which it could also be a rocker arm. Who knows what it is? I called the dealers & they told me there is nothing they could do about it. They said bring it in & they will check it and give me a price. This car has become a nightmare I do not give anyone advise to buy this kind of vehicle. They are elegant cars but they are not worth it.

This is the MOST FRUSTRATING car we have ever owned. We were so proud of our car purchase. The car was beautiful and had all the fancy bells and whistles. We did not know, however, that the car we purchased was not built well enough to last more than 150,000 miles. We now have a car that has VERY LOUD clacking noise from the engine and we are told that it is from lifters or rocker arms in there sticking. It will cost more than $1500 to possibly fix. We have also been told that we should get rid of the car immediately. REALLY?!?! It is a total shame that an American made car can not outlast other import cars. So much for you Chrysler. I will never waste my money again on one of your products.
