  • 150,000 miles

The Chrysler 300 C 2006 is a great looking and well designed vehicle. However, I have been having a problem with it stalling for years. It stalls after starting it, at low idle while in traffic or at a light or at a stop sign. I had the dealer replace the fuel tank, and with the fuel pump under a recall, I may have paid for the fuel pump replacement while they had the tank off. This did not solve the problem.

I have done a lot of work on this vehicle which includes these replacements: battery, alternator, starter, oem coil packs, oem plugs, oem main computer module, throttle body control, accelerator pedal, mass air sensor. I am at a loss of what is causing this stalling. The last 2 codes have been PO700, U0100, after clearing codes and it stalling again and again it hasn't generated a new code.

I have replaced other items also that are not related like brakes, rotors, calipers, struts, control arms, water pump, radiator, front clip, headlights, fog lights.

I am open to any suggestions as the dealer hasn't been able to fix this problem and I have been working on it for some time.

Thanks.

This has been a really good car but this problems is dangerous. I filled up and drove off and my car stalled in the middle of a busy intersection. It fired back up, then a mile later stalled and caused a person to rear end my car. It wouldn't start back up until after the wreck. I have replaced all coils and this problem still occurs. This is so dangerous it could have been much worse. It has happened 4 times after filling the tank and one time with a half tank. I'm worried that someone will get hurt.

The last three times I have filled up at a local station with a car wash. All three times, the engine stopped running after pulling into the wash. Silly me, I thought the water was shorting something out. After leaving the wash, all three times, the engine continued to cut out without warning for the first mile or so, then inexplicably began running just fine again.

I did a Google search looking for my failure symptoms and eventually found this site. This is a blatantly obvious common failure mode on this Chrysler product. It leaves an unsuspecting driver vulnerable to two huge risks: 1.Being rear-ended by that texting airhead tailgating you, and 2. Discovering you're suddenly steering several thousand pounds of car without power steering.

Dear Chrysler, I'd be amazed if there haven't already been multiple mishaps from this failure mode. If someone gets hurt or killed from this apparently widely-known and frequently discussed failure mode, how will you explain your inaction to Chrysler owners and victims?

I don't understand with all of the forums and complaints Chrysler has not fixed this. My 2006 Chrysler 300C 5.7L hemi will die either sitting idle, trying to take off or in mid drive. This is very dangerous. Has anyone fixed this issue? If so what fixed it other than buying a new car?

Update from Mar 18, 2018: $25 part was causing all my issues. I pulled every fuse n relay, disconnected the battery n replaced my crankshaft position sensor my my car is driving 98% normal. Need new breaks n possibly the pedal but it's now driving. I figured all this out too. Not a mechanic or dealership smh

Update from Mar 19, 2018: Issue is still not fixed.

Took my car to the shop, they can't find anything wrong with it. They drove it and said it didn't do it with them, wanted to keep it and drive it until engine light comes on so they can get a code but every time a code comes on the car stalls/ cuts off and the check engine light goes right back off. This is starting to get irritating. So, they couldn't help me....

We are looking for feedback on what this issue is. We took it to our mechanic and they had it for two days and the stalling issue never happened while they had it. Please let us know if anyone has found out what causes this issue.

Update from Dec 15, 2017: We just had the fuel tank replaced as part of the recall and this did not alleviate the stalling problem. Still very dangerous to drive

I purchased the car of my dreams in 2006 after much research & test drives. I loved my 300 C. Beautiful, powerful, comfortable, safe ...I thought. I began having problems last year with the Transmission. Very expensive fix. I did not get Chrysler to repair it as their quote was 3X more than my mechanic. Now this year, I have the same problem as everyone else has with the engine stalling at stop lights etc. As everyone knows, this is very dangerous as someone almost smashed into me the other day as I was attempting to turn left at an intersection & stalled when an incoming car narrowly missed me. With all these same complaints, wouldn't it be in Chrysler 's best interest to fix these issues before they have a large class action lawsuit on their hands. Come on people, let's make some noise & get this FIXED!!! C Morrisseau British Columbia Canada

Car has been in Chrysler for two months with different parts replaced: steering angle sensor, electronic shifter unit, and the central gateway module. On 4/28 the problem appeared to be fixed with the replacement of the central gateway module. On 5/8 the stalling returned and we took the car back to the Chrysler dealership. Probable cause is the TIPM (TOTAL iNTEGRATED POWER MODULE). Don't know why Chrysler didn't replace the TIPM module?

When the problem initially occurred the vehicle would stall while driving immediately after refueling. So I discovered that if the vehicle was filled 3/4 full the problem would not occur as often. However, currently the vehicle is stalling continuously and I'm afraid to even drive the vehicle. Reasoning being, the vehicle is stalling in traffic while turning into oncoming traffic. It's stalling while attempting to proceed after a completed stop at red lights and stop signs. I'm truly afraid that someone is going to crash into me. Approximately, a year ago I attempted to contact the closes Dealership to address this matter after I discovered on the internet that hundreds of owners with this particular vehicle were experiencing the same identical problem, and that there was a recall to resolve this matter. During the conversation with the Customer Service Representative, I was told that I would have to pay a fee to have the car service. I considered this outrageous that I would have to pay to have a "Recall" issued corrected. Therefore, I continued to deal with the situation until now. At this time, would someone please respond to remedy this extremely dangerous hazard.

Driving on interstate 75+ MPH and vehicle shuts off completely. Also died trying to get to emergency lane. It has continued to occur and service department has no idea what is going on with the vehicle. Service department indicated it had 15 malfunction indications but nothing that addressed the vehicle loosing power. I advised the problem appears to occur more frequently after refueling and there is a noise that almost sounds like I am still fueling the car. Service department told me to take it to another mechanic as they didn't know how to fix it until it completely breaks down or me (or I die on the road when it looses all power on the interstate).

2006 300C stalls in park, in neutral all speeds, speeds over 30 mph the tack drops to zero then within seconds car jerks and comes right back on. if going slow it will die, starts right back uo but takes a feww seconds for trans to kick in. sometimes will drive just fine, but will shut of 3 or 4 times backing out of driveway. real scary to drive on the road. dealer can not figure out the problem. replaced computer, TCM, throttle body, IAT, eg valve. tired of spending money with no results.
