Car stalled in middle of intersection. Other cars nearly struck me from rear. Stalled after restart, blocking intersection. This has happened several times, nearly resulting in accidents. Always occurs immediately after filling gas tank.

After refueling the car it will begin to run, and idle, rough to the point that it stalls. This happens every time the car is refueled. Most of the time it dies while idling, but has died while driving several times. The issue is worse if the car is refueled from the point that the low fuel light is on. It will die several times when refueled from this low level in the tank. The car has died while leaving a red light and getting as far as the intersection and having to try to restart it while in the middle of the intersection.

2006 Chrysler 300C stalls after fill up. Car is hard to start up after it stalls, it will stall a couple times again and than it will be ok until next fill up. Can not get more than 1/2 mile gas station. Lucky I was able to get out of traffic without any problem. This problem started a little over a year ago, went to dealer, they could not find a problem with my car. They recommended to clean injectors, did this, it didn't help. Last 3 fill up have been the same problem.

I filled up the car with gas and after driving about half a mile the engine stalled while in traffic. The car started and stalled repeatedly five or six times for about four blocks. At a certain point the problem stopped and the car was drivable. I took the car to a nearby auto shop and they found no error codes in the system. After leaving the auto shop the car continued to drive without stalling. Several weeks later I filled up with gas again and the problem repeated itself after driving about half a mile. The engine stalled about five times. It was more difficult to turn the engine over this time but it eventually started and drove fine.

Within a minute or so of refueling, the engine stalled and, consequently, the power steering and power brakes failed. The car would re-start with little difficulty only to stall again very shortly thereafter. Eventually, after perhaps 10 minutes of starts/stalls, and re-starts, operation would return to normal. At the time of the first occurrence, I had no reason to believe that this problem was related to refueling. However, the problem has since recurred with every refueling (at least 4 refuelings so far), resulting in numerous engine stalls in traffic. Apart from these refueling-related incidents the car runs perfectly, and my local mechanic has said that "the car's computer" indicates all systems are normal. A google search on my problem, however, suggests that the problem is extremely common in Chrysler 300cs of a similar vintage.

After fueling the Chrysler 300C the car will crank just fine and run for a minute or so but then stalls out. This scenario continues for about 5 to 8 times before it is safe to get back on the road. It has also died while driving shortly after fueling causing the power steering to stop making it extremely difficult to steer the car off the road to safety. This is very upsetting and unsafe for my family. There seems to be no good answer for this problem.

Vehicle stalled after refueling. Filling the gas tank to full without 'topping off' will cause the car's engine to stall without any prior warning. No dtcs/miles are set. Can be restarted with some difficulty. The stall will occur at any engine/vehicle speed and will happen within the first 5 minutes of driving the car after refueling. The problem can be avoided by not filling the tank past 3/4 full. Have tested this 'work-around' at the same gas station & pump.

After refueling, car stalls. This happens after driving approximately 2 to 3 minutes after leaving gas station. The stall has taken place at intersections, while at a complete stop and while driving no more than 5 -10mph after leaving the gas station.. car restarts after several attempts in neutral. When each incident occurs, the oil icon comes on, however the oil level is not low. On one occasion after having backed into a parking space with the car gear shift still in reverse and my foot on the brake, the car lurched. The tires could be heard spinning. That was very scary because my car could have rolled into a busy highway. Once the fuel level indicates approximately a half a tank, no stalling incidents take place. Car was taken to the dealership with this concerned. Service advisor was aware of chyrsler 300C stalls after refueling. Fuel injection system was serviced/cleaned. This has not resolved the problem. Car still stalling. Really afraid to drive the car, however I am taking it back to the dealership to let them know of the still ongoing problem.

On several occasions, most recently 12/21/2/13 after fueling up my 2006 Chrysler 300C to a full tank (not overfilling) my car runs rough and stalls immediately after pulling out into traffic or within one mile of leaving the gas station. My car will not restart for at least 30-45 seconds of cranking the engine. This is definitely a huge safety concern by pulling out into moving traffic when my car stalls. Dealership is recommending a new gas tank and vapor canister which is a very costly repair ($1,500 -$2,000) and they cannot guarantee it will be resolved and there are no current recalls for this issue.

I have a 2006 Chrysler 300C 5.7 hemi. Have owned car for over a year and never overfilled gas tank and never had this problem before. I got a full tank of gas, then started car and pulled away, a block later the car died. This happened 7 times over the next 2 miles to get car home. Car stalled, RPM's down, starting jerking. I kept it in neutral to keep it from dying. Went home and googled problem - seems to be either 3 things - fuel vapor canister (located above right rear tire), fuel vapor canister purge valve (located in engine compartment), or rollover/check valve (located in fuel tank). Took car to Firestone next day and they said that vapor canister and purge valve are working and it was be the component in the tank. Said it will cost $1,500 for new tank. I said no way, I'll wait till there is a recall on this, which there [xxx] well better be. If this car stalled on expressway, I would have been screwed. There is a fast fix instead of replacing anything - either fuel tank only 3/4 full, or leave gas cap off after fueling, so that no pressure is in tank and vapor is burned off through filler neck, instead of through engine. I feel like calling Chrysler dealership tomorrow and seeing what they say. This can't be tolerated. The vapor canister is an emissions thing that takes fuel vapor and burns it though engine, but if it malfunctions, it will suck up fuel and flood engine. So hopefully the more people that comment on here, the more chance there will be a recall so that I don't have to fork over $1,500 for a defective manufacturing issue, that the dealer needs to fix for free. Stalls after I fill up and jerks violently when moving slowly 0 to 20 mph and hesitates when driving 30 and over if I don't drive around drive around in a parking lot for apx 10 min it will stop in traffic and possibly causing a rear end collision.

Approximately 2 months ago, vehicle started stalling after refueling. Every refuel since without fail the vehicle stalls. Stalling occurs within minutes after refueling and will stall 2-3 times in a 5 minutes period. The vehicle performs correctly once you get past this stage. Based on my research (internet) there have been many other 2006 Chrysler products (incl town and country mini van) experiencing the same issues. It appears the separator valve at the top of the fuel tank is the culprit.

After filling the vehicle with fuel (not topping off the tank) the car stalled upon leaving the gas station. I was able to restart it after several times but the risk is incredible! the car stalls without warning as traffic was all around me honking and I was nearly being hit from behind!! once was a fluke I thought and maybe bad gas. I was able to carefully navigate on back streets to the house and never had the problem again until the next fill up. Again I had the stalling problem, lucky for me I had picked a light traffic time to fill up. I switched gas stations after that an now only get gas at shell stations hearing that they had the best gas quality overall. The problem has continued since then every time I fill the tank full. The stalling problem seems to be occurring now two needle widths below the full mark which means something is getting worse. The local Chrysler dealership says that there is no recall and the fix is to replace the gas tank due to a faulty value at the top of the tank. The cost is $1,315. The risk of getting hit from behind at any speed is incredible and very real!! I believe Chrysler should replace the faulty tanks.

After fill up at gas station ( not topping off), when leaving and coming to a stop at an intersection, car will shut off and have to crank two or three times to start again. It will do this several more times after coming to a stop, once on the road or freeway it will run like nothing is wrong. Once fuel level drops enough it will no longer stall when coming to a stop. Have read in forums that the problem is more than likely a valve that is built in into the tank, making this an expensive fix.

5 minutes after filling up my 06 Chrysler 300C srt-8 6.1L at a gas station I was crossing over traffic to make a left turn and my car died in the middle of oncoming traffic. It took several minutes to restart then lurched forward after put into gear. This is the second time right after filling my tank this has occurred. The time before it stalled merging onto interstate on ramp.

Filled up tank for the first time since purchasing my 2006 Chrysler 300C. (came from the dealership with a full tank) no more than 2 minutes of driving later the car began to shudder and lurch as if it were going to die. I was able to put it in neutral and keep it running but it was running rough. Continued on and pulled into a parking lot where the car died. I was able to restart it but it died shortly after. Restarted it again and was able to keep it running by giving it a little throttle. I began combing the internet and discovered this to be a fairly common issue after filling up. I limped the car home and siphoned a few gallons out. It seems to be running ok since then.
