Engine stalled soon after filling gas tank. Has happened the last two times the tank was filled.

Upon fill up of gas tank until pump auto shuts off, when driving away from gas station, vehicle will constantly stall and not start, vehicle will shut off unexpectedly in the middle of traffic, this became very dangerous when it happened in the middle of an intersection with my children in the car. I had the gas tank, fuel pump, evap pump, charcoal canister all replaced by galeanas Dodge in Warren mi. All expenses were on me. The parts used were the exact same ones that came from the factory, no superseded parts were used or updated. I know this is a very common problem with many others who drive a similarly equipped vehicle.

Our Chrysler 300C had begun to stall out while driving with more than 3/4 tank of gas. We began to limit the amount of gas to never fill more than 3/4 tank. This lasted for approximately 6 months. In Dec, 2013 the vehicle began to stall at other times. I had between 1/4 to 1/2 in the tank when we were driving at approx 45mph when the vehicle began to stall then restart at first. Then it stalled entirely several times that evening as we tried to make it home. I had my 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters with me at the time. The next morning I took the vehicle to local dlr, lee Chrysler, were I purchased the vehicle. The vehicle stalled on me 3 times while I was trying to make it the 3 miles. The dealer had the car until 12-16-2013 when they advised that the proportional valve/purge vale needed replaced and that all of the updates to the system needed to be made. The total of this attempt to repair was $379.45. The car immediately began to stall again so I returned it. They kept the car for approximately two weeks with their computer hooked up to it then advised that the PCM needed replaced this repair cost a total of $1,018.61. The car was on empty so he offered to stop for gas. He filled the tank up then pulled out to 5 lanes of traffic and stalled. The vehicle would not restart for several attempts. I called the dealer and they wrecker after the vehicle. They had the car for one night and called us to pick up and run the gas out to 1/4tank. We were told it would not stall again because they had disconnected the emissions system. While I was driving the car on a very busy 7 lane hwy with my daughter and 3 month old granddaughter the car came to a dead stop in 40mph traffic. I was terrified but was able to get the vehicle to the center lane. They have now called and advised another sensor must be replaced. Someone is going to get injured or killed in this car.

I am not sure about the actual start date or mileage, but this has been a continued problem for about 4 years. Each time I fill the fuel tank, the car engine starts misfiring and completely cutting off, it continues to do this for several miles (probably 6 to 8) if I have topped up the tank. This results in loss of power steering and power brakes and more than once has nearly let to an accident. I now make sure that I stop filling the tank as soon as the nozzle shuts off, but this still happens for a couple of miles. The engine runs fine at all other times, but this problem occurs every time I fuel the car. I research this problem through the internet and found that many owners of this car hare having the same problem and that the fix requires an expensive replacement of the fuel tank. This problem is definitely a safety issue and I feel Chrysler should issue a recall..

After re-fueling, the vehicle experiences multiple stall conditions while on the road. This condition has occurred multiple times and can occur both while driving and while stopped at a light. I've noticed that this more frequently occurs when you fill up the tank to the point that the auto shut off on the gas nozzle is tripped. The car gives no warning that its about to experience an issue until the car completely shuts off, most likely while you're already on the road. Right now the only way to combat this problem is to not fill up the car more than 3/4 of the tank. This method keeps the driver guessing as to how much gas should be pumped, and causes more frequent fill ups as you're not using 1/4 of the gas tank capacity. This is a very dangerous condition, and its one that should be communicated to all 300C owners immediately.

For the last 30,000+ miles, every time I fill up the car stalls or attempts to stall. About 8 months ago, I took it to my mechanic who had never heard of the problem. He searched the internet and found no reported instances. I've learned to apply a little gas when I have to stop at red lights to keep it running. It will still stall out. I have been searching the internet every few months to see if anyone had the same problem and finally found your investigation action number PE13016.

I've been having a problem with my car stalling after I fill up at the gas station for a few years now. I read that Chrysler was not recalling for this reason so I just read forums and tried not to fill up my gas tank but sometimes I forget and the problem continues.

Stopped on the way home to fill up my gas tank. When the nozzle shut off, I removed the nozzle. I heard a gurgling sound in the tank which was unusual. I began driving out of the gas station through the adjacent parking lot and the engine died within 150 feet of driving. I restarted the engine and upon it died again within 15 feet. Re-started a third time and it stalled out and would not stay running. Had the car towed to local repair shop and upon doing diagnostic tests found that the roll over valve in the fuel tank was bad which caused fuel to get into the evap vent hose which caused the engine to flood and stall out. Solution is to replace the tank which is on back order til Jan 30th (9 days from now). They are expecting in 130 tanks at the warehouse which is suggesting this issue is becoming more common.

I drove to the gas station, and when I was driving around the corner the car stalled. I was going around 20 miles per hour. I tried turning the car back on after a few times and it just wouldn't start. After a few minutes I managed to start the car back on and I drove in a near by shopping center. As I pulled up the car stalled once again. I decided to wait about ten more minutes before starting the car again and it failed to start. I waited an additional 20 minutes and finally it started with a little hesitation. This has happened to me several times now.

After refueling at local gas station drove 5 miles. Stopped at light where vehicle stalled suddenly. Vehicle restarted after 3 attempts with ignition key.

Engine stalled and stopped working as coming out of gas station after filling up. Steering went hard and brakes did not work, warning light (lube oil can) came up. Turned ignition off and on again, engine started but kept stalling. Jerks violently when moving slowly 0 to 20 mph, the engine continued to stall during deceleration or when stopped for the next 3 miles. Stalling occurs within minutes after refueling and will stall 2-3 times in a 5 minute period. The vehicle performs correctly once you get past this stage. Multiple occurrences - all after filling tank.

I am terrified to drive my car! three times in the last 6 weeks, right after I fuel up, I leave the gas station and my car completely shuts down/off while I am driving. The lights on the dash come on, the engine stalls, I lose the ability to steer, and my car is "dead in the water". it is really frightening! it happened once when my husband was driving, and two more times when I was driving, but each time it was immediately after getting gas. Luckily, these multiple stalling incidents have happened at lower speeds, but I am concerned about the car dying while I am on the freeway, as it would surely end up in a horrible accident. If other owners of a 2006 Chrysler 300C hemi have had this issue, I feel that the manufacturer should resolve this issue through recalling these vehicles for repair before someone gets injured or killed.

After re-fueling vehicle, car stalled at 5 intersections. Vehicle was difficult to restart. Vehicle would not always go back into gear after restarting until several attempts were made. After burning off a few gallons of fuel on the highway, the vehicle no longer stalled/misfired. Tank was not "topped-off" when filled, it was filled until the pump stopped automatically. Stalling occurs every time vehicle is filled to full.

Vehicle stalls several times after filling up the gas tank, mostly while idling. And, it is difficult to re-start after stalling. Engine also runs "rougher" after fill-up. Problem has gotten worse over the past few months. Took 300C to local mechanic who says there is a problem with the gas tank overflow valve. Solution is to replace gas tank or never completely fill it up. It seems that with all of these similar safety complaints, Chrysler should find an alternative fix.

After filling up the gas tank the car stalled multiple times and was very difficult to start. This happened several times before it would run properly. This happens every time I fill the gas tank. The solution has been to not fill the tank. Chrysler knows this is a problem--the have been able to recreate it in their test.

After fueling, filling up, the car will stall several times both while stopped and while moving slowly (10-15mph). If you are moving at highway speeds 45-70mph the car will cut out causing the car to jerk and then resume. It has happened 3 or 4 times since Nov 2013. It happens after the care is refueled. I have owned the car since it was new and it only started this behavior recently.

After fueling my vehicle I drove about 300 feet away from the gas station, and my car completely stalled out without restarting for about 5 minutes. After getting the car to restart I drove for another 5 miles and the car stalled out again. After the second stall I let the car sit on the side of the road for about 10 minutes and turned it back on and drove away. This is not the first time I have experienced this issue, it has happened 2 other times before. I fear that if this keeps happening with no resolution from Chrysler people may have to report something worse than just the car stalling.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300 C. the contact stated that after refueling the vehicle and driving 30 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact stated that the failure only occurred when he could completely refuel the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the fuel tank needed to the replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. I was exiting a highway via an off ramp. When I came to a stop at the intersection the engine stalled out. After several attempts the engine restarted and the car drove normally. I had filled up the gas tank at prior to this incident.
