1, I have 2006 chrysler 300c, 5/7 engine. I was reading about all the fueling complaints where they filled the tank, car drove short distance then stopped. SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 5 YRS AGO. EVENTUALLY HAD CAR TOWED TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THEY CALL SAID THEY WOULD MAKE REPAIRS FREE because of faulty gas tank "gadget". I got a new gas tank no charge. It was really easy. I was prepared to pay and I asked dealership why i had not been notified of this recall. They said it isn't serious enough for govt to demand a recall or require that owners be notified. I feel sorry for all the folks who had this problem and paid out of pocket.

#2 8/5/2019, down to 1/8 tank gas, drove into gas station filled up drove 14 miles, turned ignition off for 10 minutes got back in and car engine turns over but wont continue to run. It just fizzles out, wouldn't start and continue to run even with a boost either.

Every time I fill tank with gas, the car stalls out whether I am driving down the highway or sitting at a red light. It takes restarting the car numerous times to get it to run again. Last week I was at a red light and the car stalled and when restarted would not go into gear. I was rear-ended trying to get going again. Slight fender bender but a real hassle and this happens on every fill up. Chrysler has an extended warranty in place to replace the gas tank. Problem is they will not touch it unless I take out my whole exhaust because they do not want to be responsible if they damage the exhaust system. So until I can afford to do the exhaust they will not repair on their warranty. Should be a recall and not an extended warranty because this is a safety hazard first and foremost!!!!

About 20 months ago I started having intermittent issues with my Chrysler after I filled up with fuel. After filling my car it would sometimes surge and other times completely shut down when stopping at a traffic light, stop sign, etc. Twice I've almost been hit from behind when the light changed from red to green. One man was irrational and actually came to my car and started an aggressive argument. Each time at the stop sign or traffic light, I would accelerate and the car would die.

This became very scary to me so I ask about it in 2014 where I take my car for oil changes and minor repairs. They said to put fuel injection in the fuel tank, because it sounded like I was getting bad fuel. I did this for over a year, but the issue continued. I recently decided to read online if there were any issues as I was experiencing. I was overwhelmed by the logs of the same issue. I read the issue was closed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration #PE13016 and there is, supposedly, a life time warranty for the gas tank issue that causes the issue. I was going to make an appointment to take my car to a dealership this week for this issue, but after reading the forums, I want Chrysler to be responsible for the more than $1,000 to fix the issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where I need to go from here? I do have a telephone number received from online, but read several have called and the Chrysler Co. will not offer any help.

We have a '06 Chrysler 300C with the 5.7 liter Hemi. This is my wife's car and she takes our 4 children everywhere in this car. It's been doing the sputtering thing every time it's filled up. This is absolutely unacceptable!!! If anything happens to my wife or children as a result of Chrysler's inferior parts or workmanship, knowing they are aware and unwilling to correct it I will crawl to the ends of the Earth to bankrupt that company! We've always had good luck with the lines of Chrysler, Dodge and Ram but this is dangerous and will likely eventually kill someone! I'm seriously looking into buying Ford from now on. This is ridiculous!

I have owned my 2006 300C since it was new. I use it for my profession and distant trips although it only has 26,000 miles. I enjoy driving it and appreciate the gas millage on the open road. From time to it has 'bucked' on me and made me rather concerned. Yesterday I filled it up, went to leave the station and it stalled. I was shocked. I started it and entered the highway to have it stall again. It was half full when I filled up so I did not suspect bad fuel. I started it again and it stalled within a half mile, this time I nearly hit a stone wall. I had no power steering nor brakes... I sat in complete disbelief. It was rainy, cold and dark, I felt lost. Almost like your best friend, your dog decides to bite you after ten years together,,, You never again trust him.

I spoke to the dealership and they simply said, "don't fill it all the way up". I need to drive the car today,,, I dread the idea.

Chrysler should react to this very serious matter. Instead, they treat it as if it's a problem you need to live with. If I don't get the reaction from the Dealership when I visit them this week, I will rid myself of the vehicle and make it my business to spread the word,,,, stay away from Chrysler. I have owned six or seven in my FIFTY some years of driving history. Very disappointed with the company and very concerned about my safety as I again enter the roads this afternoon.

Maybe I will elect to use my Toyota Tacoma pickup when I meet with my clients later today. That's a vehicle I will trust forever.

My complaint is a ditto of all the others I've read. I panic every time I know I've got to get gas. I can't even drive out of the station's parking lot without it constantly dying. Then when I get on the road, it sputters & jumps for approximately the first 3-5 miles. My fear is it is going to die while I am in the process of turning left at a traffic light. It has done this, but thankfully no traffic was coming in the opposite direction. I've put regular to premium gas at several different stations & this has no effect on the problem. I've had it tuned up. No mechanics can find the problem. Quite obviously I am NOT alone!!

I now have 130,000 miles and have battled with this problem since the car had 19,000 miles. Dealers have been no help since no codes are captured and the only solution was to not fill the tank. That approach does work if you can guess how much gas you can pump and stop before a complete fill. If you do reach the point where the gas pump kicks off the car will stall, buck and run badly.

Knowing this I will drive accordingly for at least 2-3 miles to eliminate the problem. Depending on road and traffic conditions I have been able to avoid the stall by heavy acceleration. No dealer has ever suggested a fuel tank replacement to me. It seems that some respondents may have had that done but no one ever mentions whether that actually solved the problem completely. It would seem that if that is indeed the solution this would be a good basis for a class action suit. It is without a doubt a safety issue any time a vehicle stalls in active traffic and the problem appears widespread.

Has anyone heard or experienced an accident because of this? .

My story is the same as everyone else with the 2006 300C, dies after fueling, for 2 to 3 times but then mine seems to clear up until the next fill up... I have tried not filling completely up and this helped a little but it is unbelievable to me noone at Chrysler has a solution and they just keep on taking your money for absolutely nothing. And you call your dealer and they actually act like they never heard of this and if you want to drop it off they will look at it. I don't want it looked at, I want it fixed once and for all. If my wife or family get hurt when this happens, Chrysler will pay a lot more than they would pay to admit the problem and fix it for every 2006 300C owner out there.

Man up Chrysler and maybe I will buy another Chrysler, as it goes right now I will never but another Chrysler and no one I know will either because I am telling everyone I possibly can...

Update from Mar 31, 2014: If anyone is going forward with a class action lawsuit...leave a message on here...and i will be glad to join in...or mail me a notice to p.o. box 157 patterson ca 95363...my car did it again this weekend and i am now afraid to drive it or have my wife drive it....everyone knows about this problem so you cannot get any value out of it by selling it... Chrysler sucks !!!! Talked to another stranger that pulled up beside me and he said mine does it too....how pathetic...At least it's my last chrysler product and no one i know will ever buy a chrysler...

I love my 300C, it looks good and rides good. Now that it has the fuel problem I get panic attacks when I know I have to put gas in. If you don;t watch the fuel gauge and you fill it up the car will stop and not in the best places. I had my grand kids in the back seat, ages 8.7. and 1, got gas and the car stopped twice on a busy interstate, we could have been killed. Chrysler knows there is a problem but don't want to recall these cars I think it is a shame that they make all this money and won't even fix a problem. I guess someone has to get killed before a Lawsuit is filed before they will fix this.

I'm thinking about trying to get this on the news to let people know they are not the only ones with this problem. I think they need to pay the bill to fix this. The dealership won't even talk to us about this. I will not buy another Chrysler product ever again.

I have had excellent service up until 70,000 miles. Now whenever I fill the gas tank the car is subject to stalling in traffic even at 65 mph, whenever I make a turn in either direction or when stopping. This stops after about 20 miles of driving. I am told by the dealer that there is a problem with this model car and that the cure is to replace the gas tank. I do not have a price on this, yet, but I cannot imagine it is going to be cheap. I have seen that this is a common complaint with this model only and that there have been no fatalities, so far. However, stalling in the freeway at 65 mph is not a safe thing if you are being followed by a loaded tanker truck. I either ditch the vehicle (not feasible) or pay the cost (unpleasant to say the least). I believe this should be a recall item for Chrysler Corporation. After all, as a taxpayer, I contributed to bailing them out a few years back and I believe they can afford to bail me out now.

After about 1,200 complaints to the NHTSA about this specific problem with 2006 Chrysler 300C, Chrysler agreed with the NHTSA in February 2014 to extend the warranty on 19-gal fuel tanks to lifetime coverage. With this agreement, NHTSA accepted Chrysler's solution and closed the case (PE 13-016).

Problem is that Chrysler has refused to honor the agreement with NHTSA, and is NOT extending the warranty on my 2006 Chrysler 300C fuel tank, and for thousands of other 2006 Chrysler 300C owners. You can read the hundreds of complaints on the safercar.gov website.

I'm not sure how this is going to end, but the matter is so egregious that I feel a class action lawsuit is warranted.

300C HEMI continues to stalls multiple times every time its filled with gas and is hard to start. We've been told nothings wrong after paid numerous service diagnostic test. Mechanic said stop topping off the gas, its bad for the canister, we never did top off the gas? Now were told, oh its the complete gas tank that's bad another $1400, but they not absolutely sure, just pretty sure, because that's what they've read on their Chrysler intranet strand. Dealer is NO help on this matter! This after replacing the HEMI engine that was blown for no apparent reason at 102,000 miles.

Nice looking car, but DO NOT BUY A CHRYSLER! You will regret every moment. We own Maxima 2005 bought new, runs great at 326,000 miles. Ford Expedition 2005 bought new, runs amazing 198,000 miles. Owned Volvo for ever with 289,000 miles no problems to talk about! We know how maintain and service cars...

I own a 2006 Chrysler 300C and read the string of fuel related stoppages. I have over 160K on my car, but have been experiencing this problem since I hit 60K. Tried everything I know as an ASE certified mechanic to fix it based on prior knowledge. Even went so far as to replace both fuel pumps in the vehicle. Yes, there are two of them.. Thought they were malfunctioning (at least one of them). Found out nothing was wrong with the pumps. I also saw that it was a fix to replace the fuel tank to stop the intermittent stops in the middle of the road. There's nothing like losing power with a Semi barreling down your ass end.. Having to drop into Neutral and start up while still maintaining steerage control. After so many events over the life of the car, I've become great at it.. Fuel overfilling the engine is a big problem that Chrysler should have addressed with this model year. It is very dangerous and can cost someone their life if not quick enough to figure out how to restart on the fly without panicking. It happened again today after refueling this AM and as much as I really don't want to get rid of my 300C, I could risk either mine or an occupant in my car to a tragedy that is clearly avoidable if I get rid of this vehicle.. Will probably be trading it in shortly for something that I hope doesn't have this problem.. Stay safe 300C drivers...
