This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chrysler dealer.
Car stuck in park! Googled problem and saw there was a YouTube video on how to fix it.. plastic clip inside shifter broke, got part from dealer $15.00 part, thank god for Youtube, because it would of cost a couple of hundred to fix at dealer, not to mention at least another $75 to be towed there...video explained step by step how to take it apart...put a new engine in at 83,000 miles, now A/C acting up..what next?

My high end 300SRT8 had an issue with the transmission/shifter at under 44K miles. Really? And calling Auburn Hills got me the standard response of "tow it to the dealer". Oh, since it wouldn't come out of park and was backed into the garage, the rear tires were locked. I drove a '76 Electra to 300K in college and only added transmission fluid but at least it went into gear. Needless to say, I am extremely unhappy that there is no way to deal with this at home, no recall, and "wait for diagnosis" before Chrysler corporate will do anything other than provide a control number on my demand.
So the flatbed wrecker just hauled it off to the local dealer. What else can I do? I am not going to rip into the car( can't get under it) or take apart the dash or the console. At least the '06s had an override to deal with this. GRRRR.See if I ever buy another Chrysler if they can't make this right. And I am the ONLY owner of this car (had 6 miles on it when I bought it). Is this jerk-my-chain because I am a girl? Gotta wonder....
Update from Aug 1, 2014: The $13.60 part and $150 labor cost paid by Chrysler. But, same crappy part and since I paid nothing, no warranty on part or labor.

Had heard about this problem from a friend who has the same year, make, and model, however, until I had the problem myself, never thought much about it. However, Saturday morning when my wife and I were attempting to leave home on a road trip, and the gear shift would not move out of park, it hit home! I went on-line to "just answer. Chrysler", paid $18.00 to find a work around for the problem, (which was the by-pass button) which didn't work. However, I did find out about recall #K39 Chrysler issued for certain VINs on this model.
However, this morning, after having the vehicle towed to the local Chrysler dealer in Ft Walton Beach, FL, as expected, I was told that the recall did not cover my VIN! (go figure!)
Did I mention that this vehicle has been garaged since we bought it? And since we have three other vehicles for two people, we don't drive this one that much!
Guess what, I'll NEVER buy another Chrysler product!
Update from Apr 3, 2012: Sent Chrysler an e-mail yesterday concerning a national recall for this problem. Though I was not expecting a response, I got one!
Final result, instead of having to pay over $400.00 for the repair, I agreed to pay the first $100.00 and Chrysler paid the rest! However, I still think there should be a national recall for ALL 07 Chrysler 300c models to correct this manufacturing defect!
Believe it or not, the dealer had the repair kit on hand (amazingly), my car was repaired the same day and it's back in our garage!

I PURCHASE MY 2007 CHRSLER 300C ON 06/29/2007 WAS DRIVEN YESTERDAY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. IT WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND NOW THE TRANSIMISSION FLOOR SHIFTER IS STUCK IN PARK. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED CHRYSLERS SATIFICATION NOTIFICATION K39, THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT LEVER INTERLOCK RETURN SPRING HOOK. I FIND THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN APRIL 2007 AND THE RECALL ONLY COVERS VEHICLES BUILT BETWEEN JUNE TO SEP 2007. REPAIR COST WAS ME $100, LUCKLY I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY.

I have 2007 Chrysler. shift gear not operable, stays in park. called Chrysler for help! All they could advise was to pay for it and put in a good will request to see if I may have assistance on paying for a mechanical issue that they have had on other 300 Chrysler vehicles. Trying to get a hold of someone that could help is awful. Chrysler has not helped I will never recommend another Chrysler to anyone. they also advised because of mileage that the vehicle is not under warranty anymore. This is not fair for a mechanical problem that they have on their side. again, it is a "300 Chrysler 2007"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for nothing Chrysler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shifter got stuck in park and would not move. Had to get it towed to dealership where they charged me $479.00 dollars to fix. After reading some of the posts here it seems this is an ongoing problem with Chrysler 300's.

I love my 2007 Chrysler 300C Hemi. That's why when I tried to take it out of park and put it in drive and could not, I was devastated! The car only had 33000 miles on it and had performed flawlessly up to that point. I called the dealership and since it was under warranty, they said no problem and sent a tow truck to pick it up. At the dealership, the service manager admitted to me that he has personally seen this problem on the 300 several times. He told me to document the problem, and if I have the problem again after warranty expiration to show documentation at that time. He also said he personally thought Chryslers Corp. should do a recall on the "problem". The "problem" is a small pin in the shifter that breaks, causing the transmission to be stuck in park.

I purchased a Certified, 2007 Chrysler 300-C Hemi w/53,000 miles from local Chrysler Dealer recently. Encountered problems with front end, (noise, etc). .replaced $1,500 worth of front end parts. 3 months later transmission lever stuck in Park. Then had to spend $500 + to repair. Where is the quality factor for these cars?
