If Dodge Chrysler does not own this problem I will not buy another one of there products. My wife wants (and will get) a new car this year. Guess what it want be?

Ok I bought my 01 300M at the end of 2008 in December. The miles at the time was about 72,000 miles. The car is great, looks and drives fine. I noticed a small crack in the dash when I bought it but didn't think much because the chrysler dealer was offering a really good price, and the crack was very small. Now almost two years later the crack has expanded a lot. Its over 12 inches long closer to 20 inches right over the passenger area. Everything else on the car is fine other then that. I asked a local body shop which I have been a customer for about 3 years now about the crack and, they said "This is a common issue with the 300m from 99-04, and will require replacement" They talked to one of their guys who actually can repair such issues like cracking interior parts, but he has had issues with repairing this particular issue as he has attempted about ten or more 300M's, with the same issue with not so good outcomes. Since my crack was considered big repair wasn't an option, only replacement at a cost of about $900-1300 dollars. After hearing all this I realized that tons and tons of other people with the same issue. I don't know why chrysler doesn't own up to this flaw, it makes a nice car look ugly and its not cool at all. I know that the company has had money issues over the last couple years, but no one should have to look at such a horrible crack in their dash boards. I am concerned about dust accumulating by getting through the crack and causing issues with the air bag, but that's my own worse case scenario, not based in fact. At any rate this should be a free replacement.

Bought the car in 2005 with 49,000 miles. Engine began knocking after 3,000 miles. Had engine replaced. Radiator began to leak. Replaced radiator two times. Radio broke. Replaced radio. A/C stopped working. Payed mechanic to fix. A one inch cut was made to the dashboard and now is over a foot long. I tried most vynil repair kits, none of which worked. Seat began to tear. Front headlights are foggy and yellow from the sun.

I purchased a 2001 Chrysler 300M used with about 30,000 miles on it. About a year later I noticed a small crack on the dashboard above the passenger side airbag. I took my car back to the dealer and he said it was no longer under warranty because it was past the 3-year/30,000-miles. They said it would cost $1300 to fix it! I've called and talked personally to people at Chrysler and also sent letters with pictures of the cracked dashboard and they refuse to do anything about it. They say it's cosmetic! ha There is currently 153 complaints on a Chrysler forum with the same problem of their dashboards cracking so I know I'm not the only one! What can people do about this if Daimler-Chrysler won't help and the dealers are refusing to help?

It began with a tiny little crack in the dashboard, which just kept getting longer and longer. It does not look good. It seems like a defective product because my air bag light is now also on and when I took it to the dealer they said I need to have the passenger air bag also replaced. The price of such service is too expensive. I'm surprised this has not been recalled yet.

As beautiful as this car is and the money you pay for it. This should really be one of the least worries is that the dashboard looks so cheap!! Mine started as a small crack and I went out and purchased a dashboard cover to see if it would help the crack from getting bigger, NO it has continued to get bigger.I
believe Chrysler should take a lot of responsibility to fix this problem. I've owned the most ugly cars there is and the dashboards never cracked.

Love the car; hate the dash! Started as a small crack last year and has grown nearly all the way across from top to bottom!

bought my 2001 chrysler 300m used with about 30,000 miles on it. a month or so later, i noticed a small crack in the dashboard's somewhat soft cover/lining. now, a year or two later, the crack has progressed to 6 inches or more in length. it looks pretty ridiculous for such a nice car and i have a feeling its going to crack all the way from the windshield to the glove compartment pretty soon. it should replaced, or repaired for free.

Dashboard is cracking wide open. Contacted the company 3 to 4 times and they said no recall so won't stand behind problem. Said it was due to sunlight. it's garaged day and night! Took to a repair Dr. He tried to fix it but looks bad and is cracking open again. Repair service said they had fixed alot with the same problem. Chrysler Dodge dealer won't do anything because no recall. Dashboard needs to be replaced completly before it collapes!

This crack is very large and is on the passenger side of the dash. Would love to see a recall on this since it is obviously a defect.
