My 2009 Chrysler Aspen has a pinion nut recall - N08 - power train/driveline/differential unit. When I type my VIN # it shows this recall as solved. I don't know when as I bought the call this year, 2019. It was already humming when I bought it, but I figured it just sounded like that. It kept getting worse until we could not hear each other talk and it literally hurt your ears. There was also a popping sound that the underneath would keep making like the tires was going to break off. All of a sudden the sound quit but then a burning smell of smoke started shooting out from the passenger back tire.
We bought the car around March and now in December we took it to the shop and they said the rear axel and bearings were destroyed and we basically would need a new rear end. How could this happen if my recall was solved or done for the pinion? No way should anyone foot out the bill for a new rear end when this is happening with all of Chrysler's 2009 Aspens. I can't even get more information about what was done to fix the recall.
