About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
I have a 1998 Chrysler Concorde! the window has been giving my wife a lot of problems, I had 2 of the motors replaced, the one on the drivers side has broken again, and now it is off track. It is a shame that Chrysler wont own up to the fact they have a defect, the next car I buy will not be a Chrysler. ***dimsii IVOQ entry posted after 12-12-02 cut over to artemis***761425

This car has multiple problems. I find that the complaints with the windows are consistent e.g. won't roll down on passenger side front and "off track" driver's side front. I have water collecting on the driver's side front after lots of rain. The molding on the car whether it be the headlights or around the doors does not stay in place. The trunk vent has been replaced and the struts and sway bar had to be replace shortly after the purchase.

Power windows have become inoperative, including passenger's front/ rear and driver's front window.*akit was explained to consumer to have the windows replaced but sometimes that does not always remedy the problem.

Similar to ODI id no. 748019, the driver's side window broke loose and could not be raised. Examination of the failure showed that the sheet metal window support had broken. Chrylser's only solution seems to be to replace the window with similar components. Very poor design. A sheet metal part bent over on to itself and then glued (epoxied) produces a weak joint.

The driver's side glass window became loose for the first time in March 2000 and it was replaced by the dealer and it was covered because it was still under warranty. The glass window just came down while driving. But just recently on 6/21/2001 the glass window completely shattered while driving. My husband immediately had to take the car to a Chrysler dealer and he was very frightened because imagine if our little girl had been around the car. This is the second time that the glass had come loose but this time it shattered. We called Chrysler customer service from the dealership but they told us that they would do nothing about it because they don't know exactly what happened. I did explain that this had been an ongoing problem. We kept having problems putting the glass window down. They were very rude and not helpful. I told them that I was very concerned because this car seemed like it had a problem with the windows since we left the dealership, and I even wrote a letter to the president but got nothing, not even an apology for all the problems we have had with this car. I also explained the great concerned because imagine driving in the expressway at 55 miles and having your glass window shatter in your face" what do you think would happen? I also told Chrysler that they would do something until someone's life is taken because of their defect. Anyway, they would not pay and we ended up paying $527 because the dealership told us that they had to install the glass and also the part that held the glass inside the door. I don't know why they didn't replace that part in March 2000 when we had our first incident. So basically this is not the first time. This problem has been ongoing. I also met a gentleman that has a 1999 Concorde lxi and the same exact thing happened to him. Do you think this is a coinsidence" I don't think so and Chrysler better think again before someone ends up dead because of their negligence.
