A friend of mine tells me that the rings in my engine are gone. This means I will probably need to replace the engine which will run me about 4500 dollars. What the hell!!? And the worst thing of all is that my husband has a brand new 2007 suburban and doesn't want me to get rid of the Chrysler. I hate that damn car!!!!

I bought my Concorde off an elderly relative who had owned the car from day one. The kilometers were all highway, and I had been given a stack of service records from the first oil change on, including any warranty work and oil change the car had ever had, all of which was done at a Certified Chrysler Dealership. The car's body and interior was (and is) still in mint condition. I bought the car in March of 2011 and had no problems with it. I drive my car very lightly and baby it. Then towards the end of March, I checked my oil to discover there was next to nothing on the dipstick and was at the fill line! The car had had an oil change 2500kms before I purchased it, so I knew something was wrong. Added a quart of Mopar (the oil the car has always used) 5W-30. Once the weather got better and wasn't -20 degrees celcius, I could see the lovely blue smoke I left at every single stop sign and light! This problem has continued until now. I have to add about a quart and a half of oil between oil changes. Although Chrysler says this is a normal tolerance for oil consumption, blue smoke out the exhaust most certainly isn't. The car drives and idles fine, but it just blows all the oil out its back end!
I am a student and work as an assistant at a real estate office, so to say I don't have a money tree in the backyard is an understatement! I know it's more then likely the rings, and I don't have the money to replace the engine or the rings, nor do I have the mechanic ability to do so. My only option I will try before I get rid of the thing is to try a high mileage oil, while is supposed to help with blow-by. If anyone has tried this and it worked or didn't, or have any other solutions, I would love/need to hear about them!!!
My only blessing with this car is that I haven't seemed to accumulate sludge and haven't experienced engine failure (knock on wood) most likely because the oil gets burned up and flies out of the car upon acceleration :P Hopefully I can coax a little more time out of this car, so I can save a little bit of money up and buy something that will not "blow blue." It's too bad Chrysler dropped the ball on this car, it looks great, so comfortable, and actually handles awesome considering the size. I will not purchase another Chrysler product again.
