After telling Chrysler the problem (the key won't turn, you can't start the car) they told me to take it to the dealership to have a diagnostics test ran to determine the problem (dealership agreed with this step). The test came back inconclusive as "the test was incomplete since they could not start the car". After they identified the problem, it took them 3 weeks to find the replacement part. In all -- the car went into the shop on 2/1 and came out on 3/23. This seems to be an issue with this particular model and although Chrysler won't issue a recall they did cover the cost of the parts.
