Half of the back window of my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire has come unglued and is dangerous to drive the car as the glass may blow out. The car has approx 10K miles and is in mint condition and this should not occur.

Crossfire

The 2005 (only) crossfire convertible has a faulty seal bonding the backglass to the top causing it to become dislodged from the top traveling or parked. Chrysler is aware of the defect calling it a "trim" piece. A vehicle traveling on the expressway or highway losing its' backglass is not a trim but a dangerous defect that must be recalled. Models after 2005 had this defect corrected.

Rear glass has separated from convertible top at the bottom for 10 to 12 inches. Fear that the rest will pull free if I continue to drive. Called repair places and was told it could not be repaired due to the way it was manufactured and had to be replaced. Car is garage kept and driven 3500 miles a year, top looks like new otherwise. Have informed my local Chrysler dealership where I have inspection and oil changes performed and was told that someone would contact me. Nothing as of yet.

Crossfire

The rear window separated from the convertible top. This happened 2 months after I came out of a 7yr warranty that I paid a lot for. I called Chrysler. They said they are only fixing tops that were originally sent to southern states. So no luck for me--it does get hot in phila. The dealer won't do anything. The Chrysler crossfire forum is full of complaints about this defect. This is very discouraging that an american car maker won't stand behind their product.

Crossfire

Purchased Crossfire in California in December of 2012 with 45000 miles on it. Commencing January 2013, rear glass commenced coming detached from canvas convertible top. Condition continues and is a dangerous situation for both passengers and drivers behind car. If glass breaks loose it could cause serious bodily harm. Chrysler is very well aware of the situation and has paid to repair the vehicles on a sporadic basis. Their last comments to me was due to my vehicle being first delivered in California, it was exempt from the recall for eight southern states. This is quite perplexing as the vehicles are identical, with the same problems. Only in different states. I have just learned that they replaced the top on a vehicle in Chicago. Clearly not one of the states named in the South. I would like them to honor what they are doing all over the country. Perhaps it is because they probably sold the most of these vehicles here in California. They are also excusing themselves from doing repairs because the cars were never climate tested in California. If not, they are relying on testing done on the mb slk. An identical vehicle. Please help me get my vehicle repaired under the warranty extended to so many others.

2005 Chrysler Crossfire convertible top has defective rear window adhesion causing the window to become separated from the top. This is a common problem that Chrysler tells me does not pertain to my VIN number but does pertain to other 2005 owners. I cannot get a reason why as this should be a recall item or serious safety issue. Please let me know how to proceed. Thank you

The rear window is detaching from the convertible top. It has gotten progressively worse over the past year and the window could fall out at any time without a repair. This is a known problem with the 2005 roadster models, Chrysler has refused to issue a general recall. As a result, my local Chrysler dealer in seminole Florida will not replace nor repair the top.

Crossfire 6-cyl

  • 50,000 miles
Rear window separated from top. Leaks water in rain and is a safety issue at any speed. Dealer had me call Chrysler for details on warranty code X31. Tsb sb-23035-11rev a Chrysler indicated even though this vehicle's problem is consistant with all other complaints being addressed by warranty X31 and the vehicle is currently being utilized in the state of tennesee where the "recall" is active the problem is that the vehicle was not originally purchased in one of the covered states and therefoe is not covered. This policy is not fair and consisitant. All 2005 crossfires were built in germany, therefore origination point or us state of initial sale should not be the indicating factor. If the failure occurs during the X31 warranty extension period then the repair should be covered. This is a $3000 problem.

The rear window has become unglued from the convertible top. The top is brand new has no leakage. All shops are telling me that I will have to spend $2500 on a new top. I googled this issue and numerous other drivers of the exact same make and model are having the exact same problem. Why hasn't this car been recalled? this is such an inconvenience and completely unfair considering my top is still in good condition.

Rear window in convertible top unglued on top and both sides and fell into car while parked. Air temperature was above 100F. No previous problems with window leakage or sign of impending failure. Believe this is part of sb 23035-11 rev a but local Chrysler dealer unable to authorize repair or replacement. Have contacted Chrysler and opened case number [xxx] and am awaiting resolution. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Rear window in convertible top is separating from the fabric. Called Chrysler customer assistance and they have been of no help at all. They are refusing to fix it and tell me it is not covered under my extended service contract. There is a service bulletin on this year car for this exact same problem. I feel strongly that this is a safety issue, if window falls out while I'm driving it could cause me to have an accident or window could hit someone behind me. Will cross my fingers that this does not happen!

Crossfire

  • 29,000 miles
One night parked my car in perfect condition, next morning 5/22/2012, came out and the back window is becoming unglued! I immediately contacted two dealerships and they said they would have to send it out for a new soft top and glass window which would be about $3,000. Are you kidding me! then I looked on line and there are multiple complaints of the rear window in the 2005 crossfire. Contacted Chrysler and they will not assist you. You reach a customer service person that takes the info and we will get back to you after investigation. Each time they call to say they are still checking into the situation, frustrates you more and more. I ended up ordering the window and top from a place the dealership gave me and am waiting for it to come in. In the meantime, I drive the car with a towel placed between the metal and loose window to prevent rattling and hope the window doesn't unstick from the top of which 20" are still glued! never again, Chrysler should stand behind their products!
