While driving on the interstate, the rear window in the convertible top detached and fell out, causing the car behind me to...react in a very unsafe manner. The sudden wind inside my car caused a very unsafe condition. This has happened to a number of Crossfire owners. Big problem. When it detached, it ripped out the wiring for the defogger and scratched the tonneau cover.

My rear window is separating from the convertible canvas top. I contacted Chrysler as there is an extended warranty of 10 years or 100,000 miles: NHTSA sb 23035-11 rev a. I was told the NHTSA was for vehicles delivered only in certain states. What does the state have to do with a faulty adhesion problem? after a number of emails and phone calls Chrysler has turned down the request. Concerned there is a danger if the window comes out on the highway.

My canvas top has separated from the glass window due to defective glue process. Not safe at all. It happened while driving on a highway doing 55mph. Window started to separate from canvas top. It I didn't hear all the air coming in and see it in my mirror it could flown out of the car into another car if I didn't quickly slow down and pull over. Very dangerous and now I have a maher bill to have it fixed. From doing some research on the internet I found that all 2005 Crossfire convertible owners have complained about the same thing an more of them everyday. This should be a recall issue before it kills someone if it hasn't already. Thanks for listening and hopefully your help with this matter.

Rear window came out of the convertible top after purchasing 1 month earlier. Sounds like this is a very common problem but there is not a registered recall for it. This is obviously a manufacturing defect that should be fixed.

The back window separated from the top. My understanding is that Chrysler extended the warranty for this problem to 10 years 100000 miles but not on all of them. My car is not covered. Makes no sense that some are and some are not.

2005 Chrysler convertible top recall. The car was parked in my driveway. The rear glass window had separated from the convertible top. I could not believe it. I bought this car just two short years ago with only 12,000 miles on it. A neighbor of mine has the same vehicle and the same thing happened. There are hundreds of these I have since found out. Chrysler had a recall on this top and they replaced his top for free and gave him a lifetime warranty on it. When I called the Chrysler recall department they said my VIN# did not qualify for replacement because my car was shipped to Virginia and not a southern state. That is pure junk. A defect is a defect no matter where the car was originally shipped to. If I had a birth defect would it matter what state I was born in where the defect originated? no, someone out there would care and not discriminate. Give me a break Chrysler. Give good customer service and do the right thing. I sent a fedex letter to two of Chrysler's administrative officers a week ago and have not received a response. I am now going to a local Chrysler dealer who is going to replace it with a dealer top for $2500 with a very limited warranty. I can't wait any longer to replace this top. The dealer is being kind and giving me a discount because they know it is wrong that their company is not replacing this defective top. This is so bad. Such a beautiful car.

Convertible rear window detaching from fabric top. Seems to be manufacturers defect. No option for repair except to replace entire top at cost of $3000 - $4000 for parts & labor. Seems to be numerous Crossfire owners with same issue. Chrysler not covering under warranty or helping to defray replacement cost.

The convertible top back glass came unglued and fell out this car only has 29,000 miles the top and the car are in like new condition but Chrysler will not do anything about it.this car was sold new in Michigan so it is not covered by warranty. I live in North Carolina where it would be warrantied if it was sold new here.this car was built in germany and the us selling point should not be an issue. There are thousands of people suffering from this same problem and to have to spend $3000 dollars to repair this when Chrysler is already fixing others is just criminal.

Rear window glass separated from the fabric convertible top. NHTSA has Chrysler tsb on file for same exact defect, issued by Chrysler in 2011, specifying 10 year/100,000 mile warranty extension. Chrysler restricts their remedy to only vehicles first sold in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas, despite the fact that all of these cars were imported from the same source at the same time. There is no difference in the product defect that has occurred nationwide. Rear window became completely detached (loose) from the mounting surface. Having the Chrysler group service bulletin (23035-11 rev a) on file, which specifies a 10yr/100,000 mi. Warranty extension (2005 model) along with an ample amount of evidence that this defect has occurred in all regions of the U.S., to a vehicle that was imported from only one source in germany; why has the NHTSA failed to require the Chrysler group to cover all of the affected vehicles regardless of which state they were first sold in"?"

I just bought this car. The cup holder is stuck in the vertical position right where my elbow goes when controlling the shifter thus making it difficult and possibly dangerous to do so. I went on the internet to investigate this issue and found hundreds of complaints from Crossfire owners of all years about this very thing. Chrysler will do nothing about it including just disconnecting the spring on the cup holder so that it will stay down. The fix is over $300 if you get Chrysler to do it, and they install the same defective part again. Not a good fix. I think it is dangerous, very distracting while driving.

Adhesive on rear glass window coming loose, has been for months now. Window is now barely held in by top strip of glue & could fall out at any moment. Issue is covered under a service bulletin from Chrysler but they are denying my claim because the car was purchased in a different state. If the window falls out it could hurt a passenger or even fly out from the car and harm someone else on the road. This issue happens to all 2005 Crossfire convertibles due to a defect in manufacturing.

On August 22, 2013, I discovered the back window of my Crossfire convertible was detached from the convertible top. I thought my vehicle was vandalized. I contacted my insurance company and the police. The police inspected the vehicle and concluded that it appears someone tried to push the glass out. Upon inspection of the vehicle from my insurance company on 9-3-13 and reviewing the website on 2005 Chrysler crossfire complaints, the adjuster concluded that this is a manufactured defect and denied my claim. I contacted Chrysler and was informed that it was normal wear an tear and not covered for repairs by Chrysler. The vehicle was only driven for 28,277 miles. I have a serious safety concern that there are over 25 serious complaints in regards to the back windows of the 2005 Chrysler crossfire and not one recall from Chrysler or the highway patrol. I am asking Chrysler to pay for the repair of the back window on my 2005 Chrysler crossfire limited edition. Feel free to add my complaint to the others listed and I will be seeking a response from Chrysler. The vehicle was parked during the time of the incident. The vehicle has only 28, 277 miles, so this cannot be normal wear and tear. Unhappy Chrysler crossfire customer.

Noticed water leaking through rear glass in convertible top after washing car upon inspection ascertained rear window glass is separating from top due to failure of adhesive. No resolution yet from dealership.

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rear window detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated the window was a factory defect. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000. The consumer stated the defect was the adhesive that held the rear glass to the convertible top. The top was constructed of excellent quality german canvass. The glass detached and was tethered to the top solely by the wire connecting the rear glass defroster, and there was nothing holding the glass to the vehicle. Updated 10/31/13
