The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire convertible. While driving at 50 mph, the contact heard a clicking sound and noticed that the rear glass window separated from the convertible top. The failure could eventually cause the top to detach completely as the glass continued to strike the roll bar of the driver seat. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,000.

While parked in our garage the rear glass window separated from the convertible top. A phone call was made to naples Chrysler and was immediately told that a new top was necessary and to come in for a diagnostic. Brought car in for diagnostic and after showing them our extended warranty pamphlet was told convertible top was not covered under warranty or recall. Phone call made to extended warranty people and Chrysler rep. Was later told by warranty people that car would be fixed under "good will" provision. However, Chrysler decided to reglue the glass and not properly fix the problem by giving a new top as they initially recommended. Also because the car was purchased in pa and later shipped to Florida and has been there since 2006 the recall supposedly didn't apply to us. The proper fix was a new top. The fix with the so called extended warranty was a sham.

Chrysler has recalled and/or provided extended warranty for crossfire convertible tops (X31 recall I believe) where the rear glass window is failing and becoming loose or has come out of the roof top completely. Chrysler has stated that only vehicles delivered to dealers in select southern states qualify for this recall/extended coverage. This is a safety issue for all crossfires with convertible tops! do you wait until the window glass comes out completely while driving with the potential to cause an accident or damage to subsequent vehicles and or other property? no! this defective item should be replaced by Chrysler for all crossfire vehicles with convertible tops. Chrysler should contact all registered owners and advise them as to how to have there defective components replaced before an incident and/or accident occurs.

I have a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. My car was parked in my garage and when I went out into the garage in the afternoon on April 2, 2010 I noticed the rear window in my convertible top was partially dislodged from the roof fabric. I called the Chrysler dealer where I purchased it immediately and was told by their service dept. That it was a common problem and that it would cost $2,200 plus tax to replace the entire roof. The bottom line is that the adhesive holding the window to the convertible top is defective resulting in it coming unglued. I purchased the 7-70000 maximum care extended warranty for $2,226 at the time of purchase of the vehicle. My Chrysler dealer has told me that this problem is not covered by the warranty. There is no where in the warranty that says this is not covered. I have written to Chrysler Corp. At 27777 inkster road farmington hills, mi 48334, the director of damlier Chrysler service warranties, P. O. box 2700, troy, Michigan 48007-2700 and Florida dept. Of insurance service warranties, 200 E. gaines St., tallahassee, Florida 32399 and have not heard a word from anyone. I have 19,000 miles on my vehicle and it is continuously garaged. For the past 3 weeks I have not been able to drive my car because of this problem. Since Chrysler is aware of this problem so much to say that it is "a common problem" why are they not making good for it? and since I can not find a mention of this problem in the extended warranty, why isn't it covered. I would be glad to send you a copy of the warranty, just request and I will send.
