About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
I just bought this car. The cup holder is stuck in the vertical position right where my elbow goes when controlling the shifter thus making it difficult and possibly dangerous to do so. I went on the internet to investigate this issue and found hundreds of complaints from Crossfire owners of all years about this very thing. Chrysler will do nothing about it including just disconnecting the spring on the cup holder so that it will stay down. The fix is over $300 if you get Chrysler to do it, and they install the same defective part again. Not a good fix. I think it is dangerous, very distracting while driving.

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start and all of the power train position lights illuminated. The contact could also feel a vibration in the shift handle. After numerous attempts to start the vehicle, the vehicle responded however, the contact was not able to shift out of park. After some time, the contact was able to shift out of park but the vehicle would not shift out of the lower gears while in motion. The vehicle was taken to three different dealers for diagnosis but no cause for the failure could be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 55,000.
