Local Mechanic repaired car:

Problem occurred 2 days after taking car to dealer to have, not related, warranty work done.

Vapor canister default OBD Code P0441:

I have been given to understand that the problem can be rather dangerous. I have also read that spider nets will clog sensing system resulting in actuation of CHK ENG light.

To this day I believe the dealer monkeyed with the system in order to set off code and further rip me off; afterall, the dealer wanted to charge me $800 US for an air conditioner condenser and dryer. When all it was was a defective belt installed by a different dealer.

So far this car has been good to me but yesterday morning the oil light came on on my way to work when I would stop at red lights. Figured I'll check the oil that night before I left work. Wasn't that worried I had an oil chance some 3 weeks before. Well that night got in the car and the oil light was off, but the check engine light was on grrrrrr

Call the dealer who told me I could drive as long as the check engine light wasn't flashing. So I took it directly to the dealer who diagnosed some sensor part had blew up and would need to be replace. He seem to be very familiar with this problem since he basically diagnosed it before even seeing the car.

Well got lucky, this sensor is worth $750 plus labor but it was covered under my extended warranty. :-))
