I bought my 96 lhs in 1999 with 50,000 miles. The previous owner had replaced the water pump. Within 3months, I was on the side of the road with an overheated car. My repairman again replaced the water pump. Since the first time, this car has overheated too numerous to count. I have replaced thermostats, reservoir bottles, radiator numerous times and my mechanic advises to get rid of the money pit. The last time it was in the shop(after overheating on a busy interstate and being towed), I left the car for 6months and the leak could not be found. That was 5months ago and it has overheated twice since. I love the car but apparently it has a defect as did the 1985 new yorker I previously owned. Overheating was a constant problem. I also had a 1988 Jeep that was on the side of the road more than on it due to overheating. My son now owns the 1988 Jeep and he has also spent hundreds trying to correct the problem and has just started carrying water and antifreeze with him.My daughter bought a new 2005 Chrysler van
and after 6months, it burned completely to a crisp in the parking lot while she worked. My niece had her Chrysler lebaron that burned in a parking lot while she worked. Chrysler makes the most beautiful and comfortable auto, but unfortunately I won't buy another one.

My 1996 LHS is a beautiful , comfortable, smooth driving auto, when you can keep it on the road and not on a wrecker from overheating. I replaced numerous times the water pump, thermostat, radiator and even the reservoir tank that blew up and nothing corrects the problem. It must be a defect. Betty P

I have a 1996 Chrysler LHS it has an overheating problem. I have replaced the radiator, condenser, water pump, thermostat 3 times and the reservoir tank cap three times and in spite of this the vehicle stills runs hot after about 5 miles of travel, to the point that I must pull over let it cool down and drive another 5 miles before it happens again. Please help!
