This was an awful problem that happened with no warning. I was stuck in 2nd gear until I could get to the shop. It was expensive and should not have happened

My main complaint is that this is obviously a flaw in design or Manuf. of the cable itself..

2nd time I'm having the Exact Same work done... granted I'm almost @ 100K but regardless Chrysler should be held responsible for Mauf. defects, especially when this easily occur on the highway without warning...

My Shift-link cable bushing wore-away. Cable came off shift link. Car was stranded. I tied shift link cable to shift link to get home. Went to local hardware store and purchased solid rubber corks/plugs that would fit into the cable i-let. Also purchased two brass washers for each side of the ilet. Then, purchased a new "C" clamp and clamp pin. Took rubber cork and pushed into cable i-let trimmed off excess. Then, placed brass or steel washers on each side of i-let. Replaced i-let on shiftlink, then attached the pin clip and C clip. It was a litle work but worth the $450 savings. It draves better.
