PT could not maintaining throttle during idle and normal operation. Engine would near stalling, rev high, then drop back to normal range, repeatedly. On the road, it would start to stall, then lurch forward as if a ghost stomped on the gas, repeatedly. A local mechanic "cleared the code" and claimed it was running fine the next day. A mile down the road, the problem returned, worse than ever, because the PT kept stalling out on the street; when it would run, it could not manage more than a couple miles per hour. Another mechanic identified a failed PCM module, and reported that repairs were possible (for over a thousand dollars). I instead chose to sell the vehicle for parts.
