- replace thermostat and electric fan (2 reports)
Failure of the electric cooling fan lead to the engine slightly overheating at a standstill. This caused premature failure of the thermostat, which slowly failed at highway speeds. The engine started to overheat slightly, but was remedied by turning on the heater. An hour later, the engine could not cool itself at all, even with the heater, and required a tow to a repair shop. Engine did not overheat enough to cause head warpage, or major engine damage.
Most expensive part was the cooling fan (~$120), and the MOPAR approved coolant (~$20/Gallon).
Signs of electric fan failure are not known until it causes engine overheating, so this is potentially a major problem. No hard/mountain driving was done on vehicle, and it was 40/60 city/highway driving.

Had so many problems with the air conditioner, thermostat, not working, and then spending almost 2,000 dollars. Was just putting me to where I was going to have a nervous breakdown. I am a widow now and its been pretty hard for me since my husband died from an inherited terminal illness. And I was his caregiver on top of having my 8 hour job, and now he's gone(3/23/2011) so it's hard for me to handle especially things going wrong with my car.
