The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler PT CRUISER. The contact was driving 55 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. The dealer advised the contact to take the vehicle to a local mechanic and have a diagnostic performed. The contact refused to take the vehicle elsewhere and a diagnostic was performed by the dealer. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure and no failure codes were generated. The vehicle was then taken to an independently mechanic where the contact was informed that there was a defective relay in the engine. The mechanic replaced the relay switches. The failure did not recur. The failure mileage was 65,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler PT CRUISER. In March 2010, the contact noticed oil where his vehicle had been parked so she took the vehicle to the dealership where they replaced the seal. The next week, the new seal failed and oil began leaking again. The contact called the manufacturer who advised her to return the vehicle to the dealership. The vehicle was at the dealership and not in drivable condition at the time of the complaint. The dealer informed the contact the engine needed to be replaced. She then called the manufacturer again and was told that they could not assist her with any of the repair costs. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000. The current mileage was 66,060.

Oil leaks discovered. 2 different mechanics replaced front crank seal only to have seal pushed out due to end play. Had engine replaced @ $3,836. Was told that end play was within factory specifications on 2006 engine. The PT CRUISER is a 2006 with 45,000 miles on odometer. Mechanic stated that new engine will work fine. Old engine had bugs in it.

My husband was heading back home from Idaho and the car over heated in tremonton. He called and asked if there was any oil or anything in the driveway. There was. We have never had a leak up to this point with the cruiser. He was stuck for quite a while trying to figure out how to get home. We are now waiting on the dealership to figure out what is wrong. It sounds like from all of the boards that I have read that it is not ust a small issue. When is Chrysler going to get it in gear and do a recall so no one else gets stuck, hurt or even killed because of the their negligence?

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler PT CRUISER. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. In addition, the clockspring was bent and needed to be replaced. Approximately four months later, she began to hear a knocking noise coming from the passenger side of the vehicle during cold starts. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and they stated that the lower support, radiator, and transmission were damaged due to some sort of crash. The current and failure mileages were 28,000.

Total engine failure - 2006 Chrysler PT CRUISER convertible. I was driving to work and the oil light came on. The oil light immediately went off but then came back on again over and over and over. I was within 300 miles of needing my second oil change. I drove it to the dealership thinking it may be a computer glitch. When I got to the dealership there was no oil in the engine. When you see three mechanics looking under the hood and holding their hands up with looks of dismay on their faces......that is not a good thing. After diagnostic tests, the dealership found that there was 1/8th of an inch of "end play" in the engine and the rear main seal blew. The car had to have a total engine replacement because more than 70% of the engine was ruined. The car was covered with oil top to bottom on the outside (paint and convertible top) for weeks while this engine was replaced. After the engine was replaced the car seemed to have more problems and the dealership picked it up on rollback and after analysis said nothing was wrong with the car.

The horn is hard to locate and blow. Terrible fuel mileage - 4 cyl car only gets 16 mpg and eats gas badly. Anyway I am currently fighting Chrysler corporation because of their manufacturing error they put the wrong engine in my new 2006 PT CRUISER convertible - touring edition. Chrysler's book, brochures etc. Clearly state that nothing but a standard 2.4L 180hp turbo engine is to go in this car and Chrysler put a regular (non-turbo) engine in this car. Chrysler lies and says that the downgraded non-turbo engine is an option. But there is no optional engine available for this car and another engine is not supposed to go in the car. Chrysler refuses to give me the correct car that I am currently paying for etc. Chrysler Corp. Continue to lie and give customers a very hard time.

Car horn hard to locate and blow. Very low fuel mileage - only get 16 mpg on a 2.4L non-turbo engine-eats gas badly. Sometimes seems like the engine wants to stall. Have complained to dealership and Chrysler corporation - but mainly because Chrysler manufacturers put a non-turbo engine in my 2006 PT CRUISER conv. Touring when only a turbo engine is to be in this car. Chrysler refuses to give me the correct car and take this manufacturing error car back. They are lying and saying that the 150 hp(non-turbo) engine is an option engine. There is no other engine as an option for this car - I have their book and other documents. I am currently seeking help to get the correct car with the turbo engine I am paying for. Chrysler does not care and gives their customer a hard time.
