It was my nephew car, driving my mother. My mother was injured with internal bleeding, fractures, and 1/3-1/2 of her body bruised. She says the seat belt didnt lock, and she flew up a bit from her seat. She had a huge bruise under her thigh too. She was sitting in the passenger seat. My nephew had little bruising in the driver seat. The other car that was involved, the driver was ok.. and walking too. My issue is does this car have complaints about the seat belt not locking in a crash? please let me know, as I would like the car investigated before they let the insurance company get it, as it was totaled per them, as it hit head on with another car saide.

Almost 3 months ago, the indicator lights on the instrument panel started flashing. The gas gauge, the speedometer, the seat belt light, and other lights, except the check engine light, flashed on and off intermittently. I took it to my mechanic who could not find the source of the problem even using the diagnostic tool. In July, after servicing the car (tune-up) and with my reporting the continuation of the intermittent flashing, my mechanic told me to take the car to the dealer. I took it to the dealer, they kept it for two days and were unable to duplicate and therefore diagnose the problem. For that I paid $145. Sometimes when the lights are flashing and the indicators are acting crazy, the car has slowed as if it was going to stop. On Tuesday of this week, the car shut itself off completely when I started to drive after stopping for a traffic signal. I was able to get the car started again after putting it in park and then turning the key in the ignition. I contacted Chrysler Corp. Customer service who were not helpful. I have looked on-line and this seems to be a problems with the cruiser. I am afraid this stoppage will happen on the expressway and I will be injured or killed. If this is and has been a problem, would you not think Chrysler would try to fix it before someone is injured or killed. I do plan to take it back to the dealer again, however, I am concerned about my safety and I do not wish to continue to pay for unfruitful diagnoses. I hope you are able to investigate - maybe they will try to find a "fix". thank you......updated 09-29-15

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler PT CRUISER. The contact stated that he was secured in the seat belt but the seat belt warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they advised that the seat belt sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 37,900.

Driver suffered a diabetic hypoglycemic incident and ran off the road and collided with a guard rail. The accident was a frontal impact that resulted in significant damage to the front bumper, fenders, engine compartment, suspension, and frame. The accident damaged approximately 40' of guard rail, including the end section. During the accident, the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle has a history of intermittent air bag warning light activation, and has undergone replacement of several key components of the control system (I.e. SRS module, clockspring in steering column, and wiring harness under front passenger seat). The vehicle speed at the time of the accident is unknown, but estimated at less than 40mph. Weather was clear, sunny. Traffic was none to light conditions. Road conditions were excellent. Driver suffered minor whiplash neck injury and was treated/released for the hospital emergency department. Should the air bags have deployed in this type of accident" did the prior issues and repairs of the air bag control system have any effect on the air bags not deploying? did the vehicle frontal crush zone and the impact attenuation of the guard rail system affect the deceleration of the vehicle to the point where the air bags did not need to deploy" internet research of the air bag warning light issue (unconfirmed blog-type entries) indicates that other vehicles of this make, model and year (including 1 - 2 prior model years) have been involved in front end collisions where the air bags did not deploy.
