While driving home from a night out at dinner. Apparently this annoying problem happened to me too. We were on the freeway headed home got up to 65 mph and the rear passenger quarter window was sucked off the car. Everyone is right: glued on windows and little tiny turn on hinge things. What happened with everyone else. Let me know gregk_stmarie@yahoo.com

We have had our Cruiser 2 months. Took it for a Sunday drive this afternoon and the rear quarter window fell out. Unfortunately, it struck the car behind us but fortunately there was no accident and no major damage to that vehicle. Everything the first poster said about how the window is just glued to the vehicle is true. I am not sure that we want to keep the car now that there is an apparent safety hazard. Someone could get killed next time and what is there to say there will not be a next time?

HERE'S WHAT I JUST EMAILED TONITE TO CHRYSLER ON THEIR WEBSITE:
Well, today my passenger rear quarter window flew off of my car this morning on the way to work... it just literally was SUCKED OUT!!!!!!!! It's that stationary little rear side window that doesn't open or anything. I'm drivin' along, I hear a wind sound like a window not all the way rolled up and look back to see if maybe that door back there isn't shut right, and the sound gets louder and louder and WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH... I literally SEE the window just fly away! IT's FREAKIN' GONE!! If it wasn't so unbelievable, I'd have been crying!!!! But that's not the end of it now.... I make a U-turn and head back to find the window and I see it lying on the center yellow line of the two way road (N. FM 116) and I make another U-turn and pull off the road even with the window, my mother gets out, I tell her to let these two trucks that are coming up behind me pass first... they swing way over the yellow line keeping a safe distance from me while I'm parked with flashers on on the roadways edge, anyways, the first truck passes by and goes over the windows and doesn't hit it cause he can see it, well the 2nd truck doesn't see it cause he's traveling too close on the first trucks rear, and he rides right on top of it with his tire...... SMUUUUUUUUSHES IT TO SMITHEREENS!!! I was furious then!!! &%&%& So I pick the windows remains up, throw it in the back and head to work... I call Dodge Country (the dealership) right away and tell them about the window, they say bring it in so they can take pictures, etc to send to Chrysler. They have to make sure it's not vandalism on my vehicle and that this did in deed happen~the window flying off all by itself!!! I told them it's a good thing no one was behind me on this road out here and good thing I wasn't on the main highway yet..... now I'm worrying about the other little window on my drivers side...... is it gonna go flying too??? The top part of it looks like it is coming unattached slightly too, I called and had to leave a voice message on Mark D.'s answering machine at Dodge Country in Killeen, after being on hold for about 10 minutes! That's not very good service either! Are you AWARE that these little windows are just glued on? Not screwed in or bolted, GLUED! There's little metal squares under the perimeter of the plastic/rubber frame and it's glued! No screws at all anywhere and it's all on the outside of the vehicle... nothing holding it inside from the inside.... this is madness! This isn't a childs model car kit that's glued together, this is a $16,000+ vehicle! Let's just crazy glue a car together and see how long it holds! Anyways, Dodge Country Service Mgr, Mark D, didn't even offer to cover the hole the window left in my car temporarily!! Some service after the sale. And they want to maintain their 5 Star status!! I'm really disappointed!! This obviously is a factory problem! (AND ON DOING RESEARCH TONITE, I SEE IT'S AN OCCURRING PROBLEM IN OTHER PT MODELS) I think they need to screw or bolt these little windows in... who's to say if they reglue in a new window that it's not going to fly off again????? This is really dangerous for vehicles and people behind me as I travel down any roadway. If it does this again and goes flying off my car as I travel down the road and it causes a major accident behind me, I say that Dodge Country and Chrysler is going to be responsible for any and ALL damages that should occur in the event this happens again!
I would also like to add, that I have just tonite found out that Jani and Mike C. of Killeen, TX had owned a PT Cruiser also and this happened TWICE to their rear side window, just like mine... so I'm thinking that Chrysler and Dodge Country already have been made aware about this dangerous defect! The C's have since sold their PT and bought a Saturn instead! I'm thinking there should be a recall on all of these windows, bolt them in, not glue them in... that is soooo unsafe. I am very unhappy now that I see just how cheaply these two little windows are stuck on to the vehicle... with GLUE! Not very safe at all!!!!!!!!
I will repost another message once I find out how they are going to resolve this. My car isn't even one year old yet!
