when I purchased my 2006 P.T. Cruiser, I was so happy, then I started having trouble with it. it I would be driving then it would slow down, and shut off, and i would really have a heck of a time starting it. really a bad situation, cause I travel, to my elderly ladies homes, and I need good transportation.

I got my car just a couple of months ago and a few days after that my windshield wipers went possessed and it is so distracting for me when I'm driving and even more so at night. They just won't shut off and it's horrible, I can't believe there has not been a recall on this since I am not the only person to report this problem on this year model.

This is a common and expensive problem that only seems to happen after the warranty has expired. As luck would have it, I bought my car used and my problem started just days after my dealer's warranty expired as well. I am shocked that this car hasn't been recalled and I'll be looking into who I need to call and complain to in an effort to make this recall happen. The screech of the wipers on my dry windshield is very distracting. And annoying! I loved this car for the first month that I had it.

I turned the wipers on and they just never stopped working. Annoying, but also dangerous to break the wipers... The garage told me if I don't fix the problem the wiper motor will blow and I'll need to replace that as well! Everything seems to be breaking on my car once the warranty wore off (100k km). Getting very mad, as this car is not that old (2006) and as a student I can't handle stupid but necessary repairs like this!

PT Cruiser Route 66 4 cyl

Without warning the windshield wipers just stopped working. You can sometimes get them to come on but only on high and then they will begin to slow and then stop. Of course not returning to the off position which blocks your vision and causes even more danger. I had to have this fixed ASAP so took it to a dealer. $118 for figuring out what was wrong. The dealer called me back, gave me the estimate for fixing. Apparently the computer goes gunny bag and then the w/s wiper motor will go out as a result. The car was fixed, but had to wait a day because the parts had to be shipped from the dealer hub in Portland to Seattle area. 90 warranty on the parts installed. Cost - over $1K.
