I am not impressed with this car, it was overheating so I had it checked out by a mechanic. I was told the cooling fan had to be replaced.

My wife was driving home from work and the car overheated. We took it to the local Chrysler dealer for repairs. By the time we got out of the shop the bill hit $1550.00
New fan assembly + labour New thermostat + labour Flush/materials Lower control arm bushings (wore out) + labour RHF ABS Cable replaced + labour
When I asked the service advisor if Chrysler was going to make good for any of the repairs. His response was "no". I'll tell the world now I'm done with Chrysler products!!!

my boyfriend bought a 2007 pt cruiser brand new from dealership in bathurst new brunswick. this car was a piece of junk from the start. we got taken advantage of by dealer who promised after two years he would give us a van, never happened. These cars are impossible to get rid of - no one wants them as a trade . we had it 6 months and the motor went, they put on a new head gasket. we also had problems with the transmission. after fixing motor car is always overheating. took it back to be fixed and was told it was a pinched wire which was not covered under warranty. It cost 350.00. the cruise control also does not work properly -never did. were i live there is a lot of snow & we have already replaced two bumpers at 500.00 a piece which we also paid. it is now cracked again!!! its like they are made of cheap plastic. we now have over 1500.00 invested in this car of our own money funny how nothing is covered under that warranty or so they call it. we want to get rid of it but the dealers don't want it . we still owe a high interest loan with vfc twice the amount that the car is worth. the hatch back door is sticking and the motor is now making a loud noise again!! i feel like we got taken advantage of. i am fed up I would not suggest this vehicle to my worst enemy.. PIECE OF JUNK!!!! never will buy another crysler All the pt cruiser is is a crappy neon with a pretty dash!!!

We bought this vehicle in April of 2009. The vehicle was running wonderfully until one day I noticed a strange smell coming from the air conditioner. It almost smelled like antifreeze. I immediately stopped to see if there was a leak or something but there wasn't. I continued using the car until towards the end of May I had picked up my son from school and the car had been running for about 5 minutes. I noticed the heat gauge was moving up so I turned the car off. I got my son and drove the 2 miles home so he could get his soccer ball and noticed that the heat gauge was now in the red. I turned off the car for about 20 minutes and then tried to restart it. At that point the water light came on and the gauge was totally topped out. I turned the car off and called my brother in law to come and look at it. He came over the next morning and we looked at it for a while. He figured maybe it was the thermostat and told me not to use the A/C in town and just watch the gauge until my husband came home from his trip. From that day until sometime in June the car ran wonderfully as long as I didn't use the A/C or I didn't stay at a stop light too long. We finally had the money to get it looked at. We found out it was the radiator fan motor, it had gone out. We had the car looked at on July 3rd and it will be in the shop for ATLEAST 3 weeks because we have come to find out that the radiator fan motor seems to go out a lot on the PT Cruisers and they are on back order! The part alone is costing us $463.00 and then a couple of hundred for the labor. We bought the extended warranty at the dealer when we purchased the vehicle used. We were told it covered everything BUT plastic. Come to find out this isn't covered either. We love the car but are finding through our research that there are a LOT of complaints about them.
