Pacifica V6

We've owned our 2005 Pacifica since 2007, and the problem with the car not starting has been recurring ever since we first owned it. If it sits a day or two, the battery is drained. We've been to dealerships several times and no one has been able to isolate this problem. We've been told it was because of broken motor mounts, starter grounding to the frame, and multiple other things. However, none of these prove to be correct. We've gone through several batteries, but the problem persists. A few times, we've left the car in an airport garage, and when we've returned to the car, it would not start. Initially, we had the idea that perhaps the anti-theft horn alarm may have gone off and bled the battery down. But since this happens every time we leave the car undriven, whether it's in our garage or where ever it may sit for a day or two, the car is dead. The lights won't come on, and the battery is dead yet again. We charge up the battery, and we're good to go if we run the car at least a little every day. However, since we're both retired, there may be a day or two that we don't use the car or go any place. Unless we've purposely gone out to the garage to start the car, we can pretty much count on the car not starting. After putting up with this for 10 years now, though we love the car otherwise, we are planning to get rid of it and get something else that we don't have to worry about in this manner.

Issues mirror many other complaints. ABS light and braking issues are ever ongoing. ABS light comes on with chime regularly and without warning, dealer stated it had a bad rotation sensor on the rear passenger side, but that certainly does not explain the total lack of braking when the light is not on..pedal on the floor with heavy vibration from brakes during normal / ideal driving conditions, failure to stop. Once light comes on, brakes work normally. Various electrical problems as well, radio, heater, dash lights, headlights, door lock and window operation, transmission shift errors, no start, all electrical systems dim or inoperable. Multiple repairs and excessive $$$ spent with no resolution. Multiple issues and systems affected would point to and electrical grounding problem. Found some instances for electrical grounding issues online and added a 4 gauge ground wire from negative battery post to transmission bolt. No improvement. Too many new parts to list. Frame is a very essential grounding point for the entire system, wondering if deterioration of frame is related to serious safety and electrical issues, rust / rot is not such a good conductor. A few days later, everything back to working until the next event. Obviously this is a very common issue / design flaw. If a Chrysler exec or their family were injured as a result, it would get pretty quick attention. A roadside assist agent (AAA) got a nasty electrical burn when trying to assist with my car when all indications were pointing to a dead battery, while attempting to jump start he got burned (electrical), surprised that he battery was actually fully charged. Chrysler needs to take some responsibility for these known and well documented issues before someone is injured worse.

I have this 2005 Chrysler Pacifica that is parked in front of my house. My wife was driving it and as she pulled up in front of our home all of the lights on the dashboard came on and then when she went to roll up the windows they would not roll up. She put the car in park and came in to get me to help her with the car. When she got back into the car, it started fine but now the shift would not move. Cannot put car into neutral, reverse or drive. I have attempting to research this problem for a possible fix but everyone that I have seen that is having the problem, says that there is no fix. Is there anyone out there that has had this problem and been able to fix it. I just want to be able to fix is long enough to get it to the dealership.

Update from Mar 11, 2016: I was finally able to get the car into gear by pressing the emergency shift release button. I moved the car into my driveway. Once I shut the car off, it would not start again. I have tried to Jumpstart it several times and each time it starts and will run for a bit and then shuts off. I turn the key and it will not start at all until I jump start it again. It sound like an Alternator issue or a battery issue. This still doesn't fix the original electrical issue.

I can not drive the car..no headlights unless I hold key over to the start position. No power anything...No radio no air controls no windows able to go down. Drove down the road and it just popped and the dash looked like Christmas tree...every warning light was and car just dogged down. I am concerned by other peoples write-ins on this situation. I want to solve this problem. I wonder if its recall issue or just have to let it sit or junk it because I cant afford to do repairs of much expense.

i was going up hill at 70 mpg had cruise on heard a bad sound in the front of the suv, stepped on brake because there was a car in front of me and a car beside me. I slowed down to 60 and then it took off by itself to 80 mph. I hit the brake several times, did nothing, I stepped on the gas hard then the cruise turned off.another time the same day at 30 mph heard the same noise in the front end. It sounded like it came from the right side front wheel it ran 30 all by itself until i pushed on the gas and brake a few times.

I was crossing the highway on Christmas day and my Chrysler Pacifica completely dies in the middle of the road and a 18 wheeler coming dead at me. The only thing that saved me was that I was going fast enough when it died that I slowly coasted out of his way. I got the car to the other side of the road and coasted to a dead stop. I knew there was a problem before, because we replaced the cpak. in November of 2013. I had it towed to mechanics a mile up the road. They kept the car 32 days and the diagnostics machine come up with nothing. Finally I got them to tow it to the next town to another mechanic for me. So up to now I spent $75. Worst part for me was finding a ride to work everyday 11 miles out of the way. And the worst timing too. BOYD'S AUTOMOTIVE in MABANK, TX is top notch in my book. I told him all about the electrical lights and dying on me and wouldn't crank until it sat a while. He kept the car for 3 days and had everything working like new. It's been 5 weeks and no problems. Only thing now is the abs light won't go off. Got a new brake job done. Light's still there. But it cost labor and parts $295. And he flashed my computer in the car and reset it to factory. I went to pick it up and he handed my cpak to me! So that there tells me that whatever was wrong with my car messed with the spark plugs and cpak. Hopefully this problem was fixed when they reflashed the computer.

The only good thing is it still starts!!! The shifter will not go into gear without manually pushing the safety button, electric windows dont work, radio dont work, a/c / vent no power, no wipers, (abs, e brake, traction control, airbag, and engine light all stay on), and the head lights dont work! all of this happened at 1 time. I had hopes of just shutting the car down and it being fine! Thats when I found out that the shifter wouldnt come out of park!!!
