problem #1

Pacifica Touring V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

AS I WAS DRIVING DOWNSTATE TO PICK UP MY DOGS, THERE WAS A LOUD CRUNCHING NOISE AND PIECES STARTED FLYING OFF MY VEHICLE BARELY MISSING THE CARS BEHIND ME ON THE HIGHWAY! MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS I PULLED OFF ON TO THE SIDING WHERE I SAT FOR OVER AN HOUR BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE ANY RECEPTION ON MY CELL PHONE! SINCE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, I DECIDED TO DRIVE ALONG THE SIDING TO THE NEXT EXIT WHERE I ADDED OIL AND TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CONTINUED TO LIMP ALONG ANOTHER COUPLE OF MILES TO A DEALERSHIP. AT THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT MY DRIVE SHAFT AND TRANSFER CASE NEEDED REPLACING AND IT WOULD COST MORE THAN THE VEHICLE WAS WORTH! I AM BEYOND PEAVED AT THIS POINT! THEY ALSO CLAIMED THAT SINCE THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH PACIFICAS, THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE IN MICHIGAN AND IT WOULD COST OVER $500. TO HAVE THE PARTS SHIPPED FROM CALIFORNIA! I BOUGHT A LOCALLY SOURCED VEHICLE SO I WOULDN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN'T GET CHRYSLER PARTS IN MICHIGAN?!! IF THIS IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM WITH PACIFICAS, WHY IN THE HELL HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL?!! THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT I WAS LUCKY THAT THE WHOLE REAR END DIDN'T SEIZE UP AND CAUSE ME TO GO CATAPULTING DOWN THE HIGHWAY! NEEDLESS TO SAY, SINCE I ONLY PURCHASED THE CAR A YEAR BEFORE WITH 86,000 MILES ON IT (FROM THE WILLIAMS DEALERSHIP IN TRAVERSE CITY-DON'T GO THERE!) AND AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS, I HAD TO GET IT REPAIRED. IT COST ME OVER $400. TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME AND HAD IT REPAIRED AT W & W IN ROSCOMMON WHERE IT ENDED UP COSTING ME CLOSE TO $5000. TO MAKE THE REPAIRS!! SINCE THEN, I HAVE TERRIBLE TRACTION (ALL WHEEL DRIVE) WHICH THEY CLAIM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REPAIRS MADE. I AM SO DISGUSTED WITH THIS VEHICLE ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE'S BEEN NO RECALL WITH THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUES! I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE TOYOTA!
